I... I kinda feel sorry for DC. They're just TRYING so hard.
Too bad it's been in so many of the wrong ways, with too many of the wrong people involved.
ANYway...just saw it today (got a 8:30am showing). I'll probably do a Vlog on it later, but I join the consensus that it was an amazing experience.
-One of the few problems I had is some of the humor. I think the implication of Rocket having kept that cyber-eye up his raccoon-chute was a bit much, especially after the pee-joke involving Groot. Beyond that, it felt weird how they seem to be trying to keep those usual manner of speaking, but tossing in more contemporary patterns and such. They did it a lot in
Ragnarok, and it just seems...off to me. But this was mostly after he confers with the Guardians, and against Quill. But this is a minor complaint.
-Winter Soldier seamlessly integrating a talking rodent Rambo in his fighting is simultaneously awesome, and weird that he doesn't give a second thought to a talking rodent Rambo.
-Teen Groot creating the handle for Stormbreaker felt out of nowhere. Cool, but out of nowhere. I mean, I get he's being sullen and disconnected...like a teenager...but seeing a dude he barely knows fricassee himself jumps him into action? Not a lot of build-up, but they did have a lot to juggle.
-Dinklage as a giant Dwarf...I am okay with this.
-I am also okay with no follow up on Banner and Widow's forced romance. This is why fan-shipping should be avoided...it felt very much like a fan-ship.
-I've always thought Skull was alive...did not expect to see him here.
-The second Gamora started gloat-monologue-ing, I thought/quietly said, "get out of there! Run! Do it now! GO!" Why do they never listen? Though interesting theory that she's in the Soul Gem.
-Spider-Man pleading not to go...f*&k. That got me damn-well misty-eyed.
-I imagine everyone that went "Dust in the Wind" will come back. Anyone before, not so much. But I'm more surprised they went all "Avatar Season 2 Finale", and not resolve it before the credits...even a little.
-Don't know much about Thanos, but this seems a bit of a deviation from what I DO know of the comics. From Death's consort to universal pragmatic survivalist. But still, excellently performed.
-Hulk scared. Hulk get molly-stomped by Thanos. Hulk no want fight no more. Hulk scared. But maybe this lead to Banner brain in Hulk body down the line?
-I know we're thinking of Tony being "the guy" to fix this (the first IM movie did kind of start all this), but I wonder if Strange meant that Thanos had to win in order to set things right, AFTER seeing the error of his ways.
-I expected the classic battle-cry to "Assemble", Captain America lifting Mjolnir to smack Thanos around (looking at you,
Ragnarok), and "Awesome facial hair bros", and I didn't get it...but perhaps in the next one...maybe Stormbreaker will be given the same enchantment...
