I haven't been a long devotee to the overall site...heck, I've only been watching Linkara and Nostalgia Critic weekly for a few years, and more inconsistently catching Cinema Snob and MarzGurl on YouTube. Blockbuster Buster and Tamara's Never Seen/Just Saw, I tend to go to the site for. Sometimes catch the Orbit Report, formerly Awesome Comics.
I don't know everything, but between some reaction videos I've seen, it seems the brothers Walker were more or less silent and/or complicit to the wrongdoings abound, and in particular to the lackluster leadership of Mike Michaud. They released an "apology" (for how people feel about the reported incidents rather than how they, themselves, behaved), and...yeah.
Typically, I'd plan on watching the NC's weekly review today. Now...I'm gonna hold off. Now, maybe he's has much a jerk as some YouTube video titles and the Cinematic Venom's portrayal insist. Or perhaps he just made some poor choices of action or inaction. Maybe Michaud is the source of all this, and things would be improved with his dismissal and the Walker's offering apologies...or maybe they all need to leave.
Discuss.

It's the Transfandom.com falling out among internet critics, but more severe and actual money was involved.

I haven't been on the Channel Awesome website in ages. After Blip shut down and everything was forced onto YouTube anyway, what was the point? I had gotten tired of the NC formula anyway. I still watch Brad, Todd, Lindsay when she has something, Nash, maybe others I'm not thinking of off the top of my head. They're just like any other YouTuber at this point though. The need for the centralized branding is long gone, and nobody needs to put up with the stupid shit going on behind the scenes.

Ive been seeing some bits and pieces of whats been going on and how Doug Walker's been pretty silent about things. What surprised me is if I understand things right, the Walkers dont own the Nostalgia Critic IP but this Michaud guy thats at the center of the controversy. Some have theorized that Doug may have been silent so he doesnt lose NC altogether.

I discovered Lindsay Ellis & Angry Joe after they had already left CA, I think. And from what I’ve gleened, most people that left CA were better off for it. Never really watched anything else that was on that site regularly. I found most of their stuff to be annoying & long-winded. Doug Walker himself generated a few laughs, but I never thought he was interesting or entertaining enough to sink 45 minutes to an hour into every review he did.
From what I’ve heard of the accusations, if true, then the way they ran their operation makes Aero & Stormy look like saints. There’s a good chance there’s some legal repurchssions too if anyone decides to pursue it. The whole thing makes me glad I never followed the CA crowd. They sound like they were a bunch of elite geek snobs.

I don't think Aero or Stormy ever made a dime off TFD either. If anything, they were losing money on hosting. That makes the situation rather different. We also didn't have the sexual harassment issues, aside from Stormy's habit of grabbing butts.
It's mostly the short-sightedness, cliques, and unnecessary hostility toward other sites and people who left that strikes me as familiar.
