Oh boy, the most overrated tertiary character in cinematic history gets an origin story! Oh no, wait, he already got one of those and it was stupid. So are they going for the crawl out of the Sarlacc cuz baddass! lore?

I'm only interested if they get Taika Waititi to direct.

Is this an actual movie or is just a working title for filming a day in the life of Deinonychus while he wears his Bobba Fett Helmet?
I can't get excited about Star Wars movies anymore. I still have yet to see episode VIII and have no real interest in Solo. However, I am somewhat intrigued by this supposed Obi-Wan movie they are trying to put together with Ewan McGregor possibly reprising the role.

Your opinion seems to be shared by a lot of people, Solo's not tracking well so far. And I feel the same. I did see VIII and it was alright, I have no real interest in Solo either, if only for the fact that all the major beats of the story I've already been told in snippets in the OT. It's weird that despite the fact there's been 19 Marvel movies, i can't wait to see more of them, yet with SW I'm starting to feel a bit of burnout with all of them. Go figure.

It's weird that despite the fact there's been 19 Marvel movies, i can't wait to see more of them, yet with SW I'm starting to feel a bit of burnout with all of them. Go figure. I think the big reason for that one? With the Marvel movies, for the most part, you're going to get a different movie on new and different characters. As formulaic as they may get at times, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Thor: Ragnarok, Infinity War and even the X-Movies like Deadpool are pretty much different types of movies with different things to like about each of them. With Star Wars? There's been four movies since Disney started doing them. And other than the Force Awakens and The Last Jedi... EVERYTHING is basically built around the original trilogy. Even Rebels, as amazing of a show as it was, was built around the build up to A New Hope. They all seem like ancillary stories to something you already know how it ends. The comics and the books too. The comics are all focused on either that period of time right after Episode 4 and before Episode Five and the novels don't venture too far from it. Even Jon Favreau's Star Wars series is gonna be JUST Post-RotJ. And as for the New Trilogy? The Force Awakens was basically another retelling of A New Hope and the Last Jedi went and ventured into new territory... But it was controversial as all fuck. (Though I still liked it.) I think what we all would love? A new trilogy that is a good distances away from the Skywalker lineage. Knights of the Old Republic, or if you gotta have a Skywalker, go nuts with Legacy and get like Darth Krayt or Darth Talon in there. Honestly? The only story I wanna see now with the old crew? Is one where Luke meets Ahsoka.

Oh boy, the most overrated tertiary character in cinematic history gets an origin story! Oh no, wait, he already got one of those and it was stupid. So are they going for the crawl out of the Sarlacc cuz baddass! lore? Man, I'm on the other side of the spectrum, I suppose. I found VIII better than VII, and Rogue One was great, so I'm actively looking forward to Solo. Boba Fett is... eh, it's a tricky thing. If they stick to some of his earlier appearances where he's a badass but clearly mortal and fallible as opposed to the fanon that built up over time? It could be interesting. Hell, I'd buy a Boba Fett movie that's following the guy he's hunting and Fett's more of a Predator style silent antagonist that's constantly catching up with him. Plus, well, there's two points with the Sarlacc thing. You have his appearance with Dark Empire where he notes the Sarlacc found him a little "indigestible". And then you have every other mention of that with the anthologies and the Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy of books that make it clear Fett basically triggered a grenade as one giant suicidal "fuck YOU, asshole" to the Sarlacc, expecting to die, got tossed out into the desert with basically no protection and would've died (again) if someone hadn't come along and rescued him, a fact that basically keeps Fett from double-crossing the people who rescued him throughout the books, because he acknowledges the debt. He didn't survive the Sarlacc because he was "badass". He got stupidly lucky, TWICE. This has always been the thing, but the fandom overinflates it all the goddamn time until you got Karen Traviss making him out to be this fighting-Jedi-on-even-ground badass, when he NEVER WAS THAT. He was a great hunter, good instincts for finding the unfindable and capturing them. But even the comic that had him and Vader throw down basically gave him badass cred because he didn't die. Not beat Vader. Not injured Vader. Vader was *inconvenienced*. The whole point was that Fett did well enough that in a fight where Vader was trying to kill him, he survived long enough to make Vader change his priorities and go after someone else before Fett ran out of tricks. But "he survived the Sarlacc because he's a badass!" and "he fought Vader to a standstill!" are catchier soundbytes and that's what the fandom remembers. So, yeah, tentatively interested in Fett getting a movie by someone who can do a good job of it if only to put that fanon argument to bed.

I like Mach's idea of getting away from the original movies. Disney buying the rights from Lucas, they could have used the opportunity to leave what Lucas did, leave it behind but maybe drop a small referenc or two here and there, and give us a new direction with new characters, setting, and story. Personally, Id love to see a story years ahead of the original series with new characters where eveything is running smooth then introduce the Yuzhan Vong in the movie verse as the new atagonists instead of just another dark side force user as the standard go to villian.
Also dial it back and not shove movies down our throats every year and wear out the fandom.
