So, not only have they managed to completely miss the point of the original series but their CGI somehow looks WORSE than the 24-year-old show.

The look on Jay Sherman's face in your profile pic is very much the look on mine after watching that.

Makes a sort of sense, really. People, even kids now, know more about computers than they did before. It'd be even harder to suspend disbelief about everything in a computer being a bunch of random little AIs. Framing it as a conflict in a VR cyberspace between human hackers fits more closely with what people would expect now.
Thing is, they probably should have just literally rebooted it under the new premise. If Megabyte being "reactivated" implies this is somehow a sequel, that just makes shit way more confusing. Then you have to explain why everybody's smart light bulbs aren't full of little cube people and strangely hot green chicks.

The animation isn't worse than the original. (I watched it again recently.) But it's of no significant improvement at all. I kinda get the idea... But honestly?
Yeah... It sucks.

Did we just see Megabyte die in the trailer? While the Animation is nice... I think this would of done better as one of those Disney channel movies instead of a ReBoot reboot.

First Thought: "Go, Go, Reboot Rangers!!! *deeeeerr, neeer-neerrrrr neeeer-neeerr*"
Second Thought: "You know what this needs? Our characters having CG holo-graphics tracking over their faces. Like Iron Man." "Why?" "BECAUSE F*&KING IRON MAN, SHUT UP!!!"
Gotta say...I'm pretty ambivalent to all this. I mean, I enjoyed ReBoot way back when, but I wasn't begging for it to make a return. And while I won't say this looks terrible (I can understand the changes they've made)...it's not exactly making me wish I had a Netflix account.

I note on my end, my first thought was that I was watching a reboot of VR Troopers from Saban. Or Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad. It's not TERRIBLE, but I've seen adaptations that had more to do with their source material than this. A reimagining isn't always bad, but I find myself wondering why they bothered using Megabyte here and didn't just create an entirely new villain and name.
