THere's a lot going for it, but there's a lot of foreboding issues too.
This is a pretty big movie. Bumblebee worked because aside from a few cameos from others, the movie was about 'Bee and Charlie. Shatter and Dropkick were B-Plot. It was a straight forward movie without a lot of complex parts. As such, people look at it as one of the best TF movies ever. This has a LOT of moving parts that can go wrong.
I keep thinking about X-Men: Days of Future Past, where at first it was okay... But if you gave it more than a few seconds of thought, you realize "Shit, Quicksilver is the only good thing about this mess of a movie." I'm worried it'll be that.

Yeah, it sounds like it has TOO many things going on for it to succeed, given the franchise's track record with overstuffed references/threads that mean nothing or go nowhere.
We've already had evil Optimus Prime and Galvatron as a truck, so I'm curious to see what angle works with Scourge, or if it's a different take completely -- based on the G1 persona? Based on the Cybertron version?
Likewise, I don't love the BW but not really tease, here's hoping it doesn't suck but I'm not filled with optimism.

I’ll see it, but it sounds so overstuffed, that I wonder how it’s going to be anything other than another TLK level spectacle.

I mean, the simplest idea here is that the "beasts" left Cybertron to avoid the war and ended up on Earth, and are pulled into a new conflict with Prime and Bee. You could have Primal, Airrazor and Rhinox become the Maximals after having to fight to protect the humans, and other 'bots they came with become the Predacons because they like Megatron's "conquer ALL the galaxy" approach (or "Terrorcons", if you must, movie).
Though, according to CBR, not only will their beast modes be robotic instead of organic (uuugghhhh...) it seems Rhinox will be a dumb bruiser that just likes smashing things.
I was willing to give this movie the benefit of the doubt before, "dumb-dumb Rhinox" makes my hopes take a sizeable nosedive.

Dumb Rhinox is amusing, because the TFW2005 reporting from the event said Rhinox was the brains of the group. I suspect we'll be seeing some conflicting reporting here and there with closed reporting and no transcripts.
Honestly, I'm just kind of waiting to see the trailers.

Oh man, I didn’t hear about dumb Rhinox, but I did hear caveman Primal in the Netflix trailer.
“We’re FWUM da’ future.”
I’m convinced (for the moment) that none of these people have ever watched Beast Wars and haven’t the slightest clue what the characters are supposed to be like.

Let the casting commence! Ron Perlman is Optimus Primal.

Perlman is cool. Good choice if it can’t be Chalk.
