Hey thought I’d ask- I want to throw together a decent video to post on YouTube & need a good video editor for it. The plan is to take some clips from a movie. Got any recommendations for something either cheap or free that could do it?

If you have or have access to a Mac, iMovie is free.
Premiere Rush is $10/ mo. If you literally just need it for this one thing, pay the $10, get your video done, then just don't pay for the next month. If you want something permanent, Premiere Elements is a $99 straight up purchase.

I've seen ads for Filmora, if you want to look into that.
I use Magix Movie Edit Pro 2016 (it was cheapest), which mostly works fine for my simple efforts...but it has its issues. I once noticed someone remarked on the program, "it's great, but it sucks". I can't exactly disagree.

So I was looking into it myself as well, and it turns out Windows 10 comes with a video editor bundled with the photo editor. So it’s there, but hidden? Anyway, looks like I have an editor to play around with already. Checking out a tutorial for it now. As long as I can bring movie clips into it, I think I’ll be good to go.

Got myself a nice little microphone. Been learning to use the pre-loaded video editor. Making progress!
So my little project is going to be a video in defense of Godzilla 1998 & just explaining why I like the big iguana. Any time a new Godzilla movie comes out, I always see a new crop of “Zilla sucks” works & even the stuff I see out there in favor of it almost always adds the disclaimer that “it’s a decent movie... just not a good Godzilla movie.” And of course everyone’s back at it again since Godzilla vs Kong came out.
Anyway- it’s just a little something for fun. Maybe help spread the love for G98. I always liked it, but it just seems to get dumped on non-stop and it’s been 23 years. I’ve kinda thought of making this video for years and never bothered, but man- I think it’s time.

Did my first recording tonight. The mic sounds fine, but man I was just rambling on way too long. Gotta do a 2nd take.
