We all want this over.
I just want people to start using their brains. Apparently here in PA, the Senate... I'm sorry, the Republican side of the Senate... Tried passing a bill to reopen the state early, declaring it was perfectly safe to go back to work. They did this from their homes.
They don't have the votes.

As of today (well, yesterday since it's well after midnight here), I'm officially furloughed. So, uh, yep.
Fuck this.

After a week and a half of shutdowm, it's back to a few days a week from Monday, which at least means I'll be able to avoid going completely stir crazy...

There was a drive by protest of the Oregon capitol today to reopen the state early. People were too afraid to get out of their cars to protest, but they want the state open. Short sighted morons.
Oh, and the republicans in Oregon all voted to reopen the state... by mail & from the safety of their homes. Thankfully they don’t have the votes.

So....about 6 weeks later, RI has one of the best testing rates in the nation. We are currently just shy of 5000 positive tests with 150 deaths. Nursing homes are getting hit hard here just like everywhere else. Speaking of which, my wife works in a nursing home where there have been about a dozen cases and a few deaths. She has been going from work to home and nowhere else and wearing multiple layers of PPE at work. Her workplace did routine testing on all the staff this weekend, and she tested positive for covid-19. She is currently not sick but now in self quarantine. Being an "essential" worker in manufacturing I called my job and let them know, so I am also in 2 week quarantine as a precaution. My current plan is to get a shit ton of spring yard work done and watch a lot of old shows and movies. Luckily I had stocked up on food and supplies so we should be fine. Yippy-kai-ay.
