Yes I miss the older Internet
We had
WebRings
Geocities (The one I use was on Yahoo)
Instant Messengers (Yahoo, AIM, MSN)
MySpace
Ask Jeeves
Lots of Forums
Freedoms
After 2010 The Internet isn't great how it was
Now we got
Crypto
More Facebook crap (Destroys lives / Internet after 2010)
Less freedoms
More Google crap
Big Tech

There was an "age of discovery" to the old internet I miss on top of what you posted. Just stumbling into random websites/communities (webrings! remember those?) of some obscure random game/book/movie/whathaveyou that you thought you were the only one around that remembered it. Now everything goes viral. But yeah I definitely miss IM programs, those old convo days were the best.

I remember how awesome it was finally getting internet access. Until then I didn't even know TF kept going in Japan. I also FINALLY found other people who remembered the old Mysterious Cities of Gold show on Nick in the 80s. But one thing I don't miss is dial up and that damn dial up sound.

Honestly, I get the most out of Discord that I ever really did from AIM. Group chats also aren't a whole bugbear to manage, and DMs work the same as direct messaging ever did (they even have the option for specific group chats with Not Every User on the server now) Otherwise, I may have some nostalgia, but I don't think I miss it terribly. But then, I avoided MySpace then and I avoid Facebook now. I'm a hermit on the mountain outside of the Discord Servers where I occasionally venture down to talk to folks and here.

Honestly, the Internet was ruined when all the normies showed up and it became the same cesspool of bullshit as the real world. It was better when it was just us dorks arguing about idiotic minutiae as opposed to like... mass surveillance or attempting to topple democracy.
