So, inspired by a comment Mach made on Twitter about how there's been so MANY Arcee toys recently we can debate which one is the best, it reminds me of the fact that like, there was a time before this current trend.
I remember when Botcon repainting RiD Prowl as Sideswipe and Sunstreaker made those toys super desirable because what were the chances they'd go back and make new G1 toys? (the sweet innocence of youth). When Energon Starscream's Powerlinx repaint was seen as the closest we'd see to a "modern" G1 Starscream. Dark Scorponok in Cybertron being the closest we'd ever see to BlackZarak.
Now between the mainline handling mainline G1, and Selects handling obscure niche figures, it's just a weird thing about how retro the toyline is. Legacy is entirely dedicated to new toys of old characters, which isn't bad (I'd adore new Transmetals, and I'm hyped for Menasor). But it just is kind of striking that I find myself really wishing that the TV shows weren't relegated to being "the kids line" now. Since they're where a majority of the new innovations tend to spring up from (I adore the new Twitch toy they showed off, and I want fancier versions of the Earthspark designs than they've shown so far). It's just kind of a little disappointing when we have to wait for the fans of a given franchise timeframe to become old enough to vote before we can see those toys in the Generations styling.

I get what you are saying. I know Cyberverse, which was kid focused, had a lot of great designs but it was definitely a shame that most of the early toys were crap and it wasn't until the show was almost over when they finally introduced the deluxe figures which mostly had some pretty good figures. I do like they did state in the SDCC Q&A that Cyberverse was definitely a possibility for Legacy. The question is will it be true Cyberverse designs or traditional G1-stylized Cyberverse. Then someone asked: So I don't know if they missed the Generations part of that question but it gives me hope that good designed deluxes on par or actually folded into Generations might happen sooner rather than later. What I am personally hoping for is for more love the RID 2015 in Legacy. There were alot of great designs that are just begging for a toy release.
