Since some of us find ourselves with more free or home time lately, I thought I'd put together this handy little streaming guide if you're looking for something to watch. Let's start with the free services. These will all have commercials but, FREE!
Tubi is a treasure trove of free content:
-Every US Transformers series from G1 to Prime/Rescue Bots
-Every GI Joe series
-Jem, C.O.P.S., Flash Gordon, Defenders of the Earth, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, Conan and a bunch of other older cartoons
-A large selection of Anime from Captain Harlock and Robotech to Cowboy Bebop and Street Fighter to Naruto and Fairy Tail. Looks like over 100 titles available
-Most of the Showa Gamera films and Destroy All Monsters
-Several non-Japanese giant monster films like Gorgo, Reptilcus and 20 Million Miles to Earth
-A good chunk of the Asylum library if you're in the mood for schlock
-Shout Factory's library which includes classic MST3K, a large helping of Super Sentai and the Gerry Anderson library
Shout Factory has its own app with the stuff I mentioned above. If your looking for those particular titles, they are easier to find on Shout since MST3K and Super Sentai have their own sub-categories
The NBC app includes content from SyFy, but it's a personal favorite of mine because of the classic sci-fi shows they feature including Battlestar Galactica, Six Million Dollar Man, Bionic Woman, Knight Rider, Incredible Hulk and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
The one reason to download Crackle is for Spectacular Spider-Man, a Sony show that won't make it to Disney+. They also have the Marvel anime (Blade, Wolverine, Iron Man, X-Men) and a few movies like Godzilla 2000, the Lake Placid series and the Starship Troopers series
Pluto TV is a mix of live channels and on-demand content, Some of the dedicated channels include classic Doctor Who, 007, MST3K and several channels from Nick including TMNT.
Pay services....
Besides all the original content on DC Universe (including the hilarious Harley Quinn) you get the entire DCAU / Timmverse, Teen Titans, Static Shock, The Batman, Batman TB&TB, Green Lantern, Legion of Super-Heroes and a selection of the original animated films. There's also a selection of pre-CW live-action shows.
Disney+ is a mammoth. Between all the Marvel animation, Star Wars and Disney Afternoon, you could spend weeks on your couch. I recently completed both seasons of Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Hulu is a mixed bag and pain to navigate but there's a lot on there. Highlights include Rick & Morty, The Venture Bros, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, MLP:FIM, Powerpuff Girls, The Orville, Agents of SHIELD, Legion, The Gifted, Futurama, Archer, Invader Zim and Justice League Action.
Amazon Prime is also a pain to navigate because you have to filter out all the other pay channel, rental and purchase selections. What's included with Prime is all the original Star Trek shows, the Stargate series and another huge anime selection. I also enjoy the original series The Boys.
Netflix has been gutted of all its non-original content, but what's left is pretty good. I enjoy Umbrella Academy, Lost in Space and Locke and Key. The Toys that Made Us is excellent. They also have all the original Trek series, all the Arrowverse shows, Lucifer and the animated stuff most of you are familiar with like Voltron, She-Ra and Castlevania. You can also find Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. Just avoid the Godzilla anime series, it is awful.
