Patrick Stuart announced that he'll be back as Picard in a new Trek series for CBS All Access. No details were given except they are working on storylines right now. I wonder, was this a move by CBS to boost subscriptions because Discovery isn't doing it for them?

I don't hate the idea, but given how poorly the TNG movies were done, I'm kinda hoping it just picks up where the series ended, continuity-wise. But more Picard is a good thing, I'm cautiously interested.

Here's an idea. John DeLancie returns as Q as well... But stuck as a mortal. So it's Picard and Q in an odd couple sort of deal. Everyone in the universe wants to kill Q, and civilian Picard, now without Star Fleet or a ship has to protect him.

Since I doubt they are getting the whole band back together, I expect this is Picard as an admiral or ambassador. That could be interesting, as we've always had Trek from the perspective of a starship captain.
The only thing I'm a little sad about is this will most likely invalidate all the post-Nemesis novels, which are great. I know they've always been soft canon, but after the end of the TNG movies and Enterprise, the books had free reign to do as they pleased and did some really cool stuff.
