Considering we left the old Orville thread at the other place... Last we knew, Orville's first season was cut by one episode which will be tacked on to the beginning of the next season since Orville was renewed for season 2 early on. And speaking of Season 2... comicbook.com/startrek/2018/05/14/the-orville-season-2-premiere-date/Looks like Season 2 will be premeiring late December 2018 for a mid season run into 2019.

I finally got around to watching it recently. It's actually pretty good. At times it even feels like they're shoehorning in a poop joke just to satisfy them selling it to Fox as a parody, but otherwise they're just doing Star Trek.

I'm really impressed with the show, especially taking on meaty topics like gender identity and religion and getting some great guest stars. Glad to see that Seth has toned down his humor and that the shit writing from the last decade of Family Guy hasn't bled into The Orville.
Last November I attended the Next Gen panel at RI Comic Con, and the feeling of the entire panel (Frakes, Sirtis, McFadden, Spiner and Dorn) was that they loved Seth, loved the show and would appear on it any time he asked.

Considering how much he works with Seth already, I figured Patrick Stewart would have been a given at some point last year or at least some point in the future. And I agree, Im glad he's toned down things abit for Orville compared to Family Guy and American Dad. I wish they would cancel Family Guy already and give Seth more time for Orville. Considering he has those two shows, Orville, and various other projects, I hope he doesnt suffer burnout.

Let's not forget the new season of Cosmos too.

I watched bits and pieces of the Orville and felt the snippets of Family Guy/American Dad really didn't work. Once it found it's footing... it's the best Star Trek since DS9. I need to sit down and watch the whole thing.

I feel like most episodes could actually use about 10-15% more snarkiness and absurdity, but that being said I still enjoy the show WAY more than I have ever enjoyed any of the actual Star Trek shows.
