news.tfw2005.com/2018/02/16/transformers-cinematic-universe-current-movie-series-rebooted-358641 So, for the sake of discussion, putting aside the chance that TFW is over-editorializing this because that's never happened before ( ), let's take this at face value and assume the Bay movies are just seriously done. On the one hand, no more Bay movies that people dislike and such there, but I've seen some interesting comments here and there that people appreciated the Bay movies for at least not being a pandering G1-fest like Generations has been for a few years now. Similarly, we know the BB movie is still coming out, so one has to wonder if it's a prequel...its own thing to test the waters for potential new movie continuity? All in all, kind of interesting to see it happen after TLK didn't rake in the billions the previous films did.

I'm glad the current movie-verse is done. The first TF 2007 movie was great and I think it helped bring TFs even more into the pop culture spotlight and gave it the boost it needed to keep the line going up to now. ROTF, yea that fell flat on its face after getting tea bagged by Devastator's wrecking balls. Granted though alot of the toys were some of the best movie toys to date even though most were complicated as hell to transform. DOTM I though was better than DOTM and wrapped up the current arc nicely.
In hindsight, I think DOTM would have been a great place to have ended the current cinematic verse. AoE and TLK....the action scenes were good but story wise, they were both jumbled messes. It was like they jammed a bunch of puzzle pieces that didnt fit together and said done, making a picture that wasnt clear and didnt make a hell of alot of sense. Also the fact these movies were coming every 2 years, its not hard to see there was TF movie fatigue and fans made it known with TLK box office totals.
I do hope that Bumblebee is successful and instead of making it a prequel to the current verse, they could maybe use it as a spring board into a rebooted universe. The fact though there might not be another TF movie until 2121 at the earliest I think is a good thing. 1. The fans (old and new) might be ready for another chance to see a new TF movie by then and 2. It gives Hasbro plenty of time to make things right and take their time to make sure Transformers 2.0 is something good instead of just throwing crap together for sake of getting something out there and having it bomb like TLK did.

The next step in the Bay-verse would have been Unicron, and I don't need any more Unicron. I hope the reboot forges it's own path without having to rehash plot lines from past incarnations. I also hope it's a good story told well, not equal parts explosions, sexism, racism and jerking off to military hardware.

I love the first movie. Part 2 is a guilty pleasure. And after that, meh. I can take or leave them. The biggest crime these movies committed was making every TF a disposable character that no one could get invested in. That’s why I’m also looking forward to the Bumblebee movie & hoping that they finally treat the TFs like characters instead of wooden props. We’ll see.

That’s why I’m also looking forward to the Bumblebee movie & hoping that they finally treat the TFs like characters instead of wooden props. We’ll see. OMG YES! THIS X 1000! Some people might think that Ratchet is who I'm thinking of when I agree with this (and yes you're right ) and he did get 3.5 movie appearances and Ironhide got 2.5 appearances but they had little to no characterization. But others like Jazz, Arcees, Que, Dino, Blackout, Brawl, Shockwave, nothing. It was like the mentality of the original TFTM regarding out with the old in the new but to the extreme. If we had gotten a TF6, I'd be scared that John Goodman's Hound's number would be up next. But bad thing is though, this wasn't just a TF only crime under Hasbro. GI Joe did the same thing killing off Duke (confirmed being blown up and in a forever-coma) and having a bunch of others just pull a vanishing act like unconfirmed status season 2 TF characters in season 3. This is why I think GI Joe would be better as a live action TV show than a live action movie. With a series, they can rotate characters in and out without having to outright kill them off for newer ones.

I am not to bummed to see the end of the Bay Verse, mainly because the lack of continuity and retcons really bugged me to no end, like the fact that in RotF, we had Decepticons Dropping all over the earth and causing mass destruction.... only for the world to some how forget what Transformers are in DotM.
Or the constant retconing for when Transformers first came to earth. (Bee was on earth in ww2, even thought the first film says this is the first time the Autobots have come to earth?)
I hope the new TF movieverse (because Hollywood likes their cash cows) has a better set of writers.

We don’t have a current thread for The Last Knight, so I’m posting this here in the thread that was born out of TLk’s failure.
Soooo we’re watching it finally. We’re an hour & a half in, & we’re calling it quits for the night. It’s a mess but I was expecting it to be a lot worse. There is so much going on in this movie & it feels surprisingly un-epic for a movie all about a literal clash of two planets. Anyway, we’ll try & finish it tomorrow & I can give my final thoughts then. G’night!

Yeah... It doesn't get better. I literally think it's worse than Revenge of the Fallen. While that's a bad movie, you can at least follow it's nonsense.

And ROTF is at least fun nonsense. This thing feels like everyone involved is just there for a paycheck. Like, nobody cared about what they were making, but they were paid enough to at least make it look good onscreen.
