That CSM stuff is crazy. The first one I looked at online was the Agito one and that has some impressive functionality.
So really just working through OOO at the moment and watching Revice as it comes out. But now that Toei has put the first two episodes of all the other shows up on YouTube And I’ve watched all of those I have a single question;
Is Saber as bad as it looks?
I mean, my god…I thought I’d hate Ex-Aid just by the aesthetic and the gamer theme, but the first two episodes make it look fun and I enjoyed Kamen Sentai Gorider, so My initial impression was wrong on that one. But Saber looks like what would happen if you let Wes Anderson direct a Sentai series and then decided to change it to a Rider show at the last minute. Those first two episodes were just so…indescribable.
Now, I respect Tokusatsu, but outside of the occasional Power Rangers show or like Netflix's Ultraman... I find it too intimidating to know where to start. At least like Doctor Who, I know to wait until either a new Doctor or a new companion shows up, and start there. But like Kamen Rider? Where do I fucking begin? Especially when it comes to the Super Sentai shows.
Well the other night, trying to do research, I decided to just take a jump and try one at random. What one, you ask?
Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger
There are moments there, I just sat there, mouth agape, thinking "What the hell am I watching?"
But I quickly realized, that if the rest of the Sentai shows are like the MCU... This is Deadpool. This is the odd one out. And... It's pretty funny for it!

Akibaranger is a treasure. Another show that does a great job of celebrating / lampooning tokusatsu fan culture is Tokusatsu GAGAGA!
As for where to start... pick one that looks interesting and go. They occasionally have crossover, but each show is 100% self contained. Toei has been posting the first two episodes of each show on their YouTube, so it's a good way to scope them out. The only ones that you might enjoy less to start would be Decade and Zi-O, since they are each heavily based on revisiting previous series.

Pretty much what he said. Unless you want to get in deep with the crossover movies and the like, you really can't go wrong just picking a series and running with it.
Personally, I prefer the Heisei and Reiwa era stuff myself (2000-present). As far as they go, Kuuga and Ryuki are both available on Shout Factory’s TokuShoutsu streaming service which you can watch online free as well as through stuff like Pluto TV. Zero One will start streaming next month there as well.
If you want the most mature series, Amazons is available on Amazon Prime.
I have a source for everything else, so I’ll send a PM about that. But like Trium said, the Toei Tokusatu channel has the first two episodes of everything (save the newest series, Revice) up. That’s a great way to sample these things. Having watched the first two of them all, I can say the only one I’m hesitant on is Saber. All of the rest had at least one aspect that looked super-interesting…even the one based around kids having dance battles.

LOL, I just started rewatching Gaim. I remember being iffy on the whole dance battle thing when it originally aired, but it wound up being one of my favorites. It does build up the stakes as it goes along and the kids realize things aren't just a game. I love all the thematic stuff around "forbidden fruit" myths, and it's one of those shows that's more about Riders fighting each other which is always fun.

New Super Sentai will be based on the tale of Momotaro. That's all fine, but it looks like Pink and Black will be CG characters? They've been messing with having non-human characters such as in Kyuuranger and Zenkaiger, but they were still actors in suits. Sentai is not known for high fidelity CGI, so this makes me... uneasy.
Optimal Megatron: I still got this one because she'll be in better scale overall, but it's a funny bit

Optimal Megatron: The funny thing is I got Mastermind Creations' 3rd party Override ages ago because I never thought she'd get another toy.

iacon45: Scourge is preparing to ship at Walmart.com
Aug 11, 2022 15:13:49 GMT -5
iacon45: She has some issues with red paint smear onto the white and the gun is loose in her hands but those are minor. Very well done and recommended.
Aug 11, 2022 12:37:18 GMT -5
iacon45: Velocitron Override is a fun figure! More streamlined than the original, better arms, and no awkwardly wide weapon.
Aug 11, 2022 12:36:27 GMT -5
iacon45: Yes! I just sold CW Menasor so I need them to fill the gap. I kinda hope Legacy redos the Protectobots next and somehow incorporate the combiner body into Hot Spot.
Aug 7, 2022 22:13:38 GMT -5
Optimal Megatron: So, Legacy Motormaster and his Most-o-sor mode are both pretty good. Now the rest of the Stunticons need to hurry up and come out.
Aug 7, 2022 21:49:54 GMT -5
iacon45: I like them both to be honest. Still wish I had my TFU 2.0 and G1 Cosmos.
Aug 5, 2022 18:13:48 GMT -5
Optimal Megatron: I admit, I'm satisfied with the Legends Cosmos from that era, so I wasn't super worried about not getting him
Aug 5, 2022 14:07:20 GMT -5
iacon45: And Velocitron Cosmos just arrived. That's a big checkmark and a sigh of relief.
Aug 5, 2022 12:33:46 GMT -5
iacon45: Personally, I wouldn't have minded smaller scale Joe x TFs scaled with tiny GI Joe mini figures instead of full size 3.75" figures
Aug 5, 2022 10:50:53 GMT -5
Optimal Megatron: Sometimes you just want something like Energon Snowcat where it's a GI Joe vehicle that transforms rather than having to make huge holes for Joe figures.
Aug 5, 2022 10:41:06 GMT -5
Optimal Megatron: So I ended up talking with MD about the crossover Cobra Megatron, and apparently he wasn't super impressed with it in person, so I decided to drop that pre-order. Kinda sad, but the biggest thing against it seems to be being scaled for GI Joes.
Aug 5, 2022 10:40:32 GMT -5
Optimal Megatron: That said, I did get one of the 3rd party upgrades for Menasor, so mine is a bit more buff than usual.
Aug 5, 2022 10:08:19 GMT -5
iacon45: Bruticus is ok too considering the initial issues Onslaught had
Aug 4, 2022 23:12:34 GMT -5
iacon45: The combiner hip on my UW Computron is extremely loose. Same with some of Defensor. Superion and Dev still seem ok though.
Aug 4, 2022 23:09:48 GMT -5
Optimal Megatron: Honestly, I'd say the CW Motormaster/Prime mold would probably have the most problems. The rest of the ones I've got easy access to seem to be doing alright.
Aug 4, 2022 23:02:25 GMT -5
iacon45: Just got out my CW Menasor and this guy didn't age well. In fact a lot of my CW combiners are having issues.
Aug 4, 2022 22:55:10 GMT -5
iacon45: Agreed. Ive got a SS86 Sweep for a Sweep and Selects Cyclonus for "Armada". Unless I find some dirt cheap SS86 Sweeps, Im good on the Unicron bunch
