Yeah, I'm confused about the frantic run on TP. Are people confusing covid-19 with Montezuma's revenge? I think it's more that if they catch the virus, they'll be quarantined for a while, unable to leave their homes, and don't want to be without. My Dad actually left a little while ago to Walmart (at least, that's the site his laptop is open to), looking to get some TP...he'd tried nearby Walgreens and the Pick 'n' Save where I used to work, so now he's apparently checking a store that's a 15-20 minute drive away, because their site claimed to have 3 left. But it's not for the house. He's expecting a start date on a new contract in Michigan, and wants to get it for my sister. Her kids' schools apparently are going to be closed for the next three weeks, after which is Spring Break, and she doesn't know if there's a program to teach kids remotely, or if they'll make it up by ending the school year a little later.

Thing to remember though? Hand sanitizer is antibacterial... Not antiviral. Keep those Clorox wipes handy. This is actually misinformation. Alcohol in hand sanitizer does kill COVID-19 by disrupting its viral sheathe in the same way it disrupts the cell membrane of bacteria. Alcohol doesn't destroy all viruses, but it does work on this virus. You're absolutely right. This was corrected to me earlier, so I do have to retract my comments. If the sanitizer is 70% alcohol or higher (and most commercial sanitizers are), then it's totally effective. Truth be told though? I can't shake the feeling that all this is a prelude to something bigger and more devastating to come. And our opportunities to prevent it is gone.

I'd love to have enough faith in humanity to believe we'll all collectively see Covid as a warning shot for a REAL pandemic, like something on the scale of the Black Death or the 1918 flu, or so forth and use the lessons in how badly we handled this to DO IT RIGHT next time. But I don't and we won't.

I hate to break up the pessimism, but enjoy this meme I made! I put it on Instagram, maybe it will go viral. Wait...can we still say "go viral"?? Dammit!

Little laughter and distraction is what we could all use at this time. Speaking of distraction, I'm glad I didn't open my Mega Construx Castle Greyskull. It'll give me something to do if I end up having to stay home at some point.

I’m not that lucky. I’m starting to suspect that if I get the Corona Virus my boss will send everyone else home and make me come in to work.

We're on mandatory work from home now, as of last Thursday when a "presumptive" case was found in our building. IT is begging people to only connect to the VPN when they have to, because it wasn't specced on the assumption that the entire company would use it simultaneously. Good news is most of what we need is just out in the cloud, so most employees don't really need the VPN at all.
As far as supplies... folks seem to forget you can get this shit delivered. I have everything I need thanks to Peapod and Amazon. I haven't set foot in one cleaned out supermarket or stood in one 45 minute checkout line.

Pennsylvania has shut down all public outlets, including libraries. So my hours have been cut. My director has given us the option to come in and do some internal work, but only on a voluntary basis. So I'll probably come in and reorganize the books and do some graphic design for the place while we're shut down. (Just to earn a check.) But it'll just be me and one other there. No patrons or anyone.
It's gonna be an awkward eight weeks*.
(*or more...)
I'm thinking I'll get some comic work done.
