They hope to open up more stores next year. The TRU building near me is still there, unused...like a lot of businesses that've closed in last ten years.
Also, I mentioned in my previous post how that image of Geoffrey's Toy Box was in a store that may've been a Pick 'n' Save? Well, that seems like it'd make sense, because Tru Kids set up those displays in a deal with Kroger, which a few years ago bought Pick 'n' Save (possibly all of the Mariano owned stores, I dunno).
But, yeah...slight glimmer of possibility that the chain might make a comeback.
If you want something done, it's going to take time. If you want something done RIGHT, it's going to take longer.

There's nothing to learn. This isn't the bug, it's the feature. Perform a leveraged buyout, saddle the company with the debt, extract all possible value from it and put it in your pocket, then let it fail. They made a fuckton of money off this.

Huh, we have a local toy store around here called Castle Toys. (I pass it on my way to work.) It's meant as a more laid back, educational play area store, more for demonstrations in upscale areas. The most mainstream stuff they sell is Legos. What TRU is doing reminds me of those stores... But minus the overall educational goal.
I'm not holding my breath on longevity here.

iacon45: I would wait to see if that Netflix Megs goes on sale but I not only need that Megs but Siege Crosshairs needs his Targetmaster

Optimal Megatron: I only got Siege Prime because he was on sale.

Optimal Megatron: I admit Earthrise Prime has some nice stuff, but I just don't feel like paying that much extra for another G1 Prime with a trailer I won't use.

iacon45: About to go that level with Earthrise Prime

Optimal Megatron: After seeing the Rumble/Ratbat set going for $40 before shipping on eBay and no retailers having it in stock, I just bought the Takara one for a slight markup, along with Rung.

iacon45: Looking at that Decepticon Mirage I wish Hasbro would have used the toy accurate head.

Optimal Megatron: Yeah, I pre-ordered Netflix Megatron too. That silver paint job is spiffy.
Feb 22, 2020 23:02:28 GMT -5
iacon45: But speaking of Megatron, I'm going to opt for that Netflix Siege Megatron instead. I really love that silver deco look and I actually like his battle scars.

iacon45: Agreed on Smokescreen. I prefer the cybertronian car mode surprisingly. As for E.R. Megatron, that is also a hardpass. I just hope that removing chunks of vehicle mode for big clunky accessories does not become a trend.

Optimal Megatron: Megatron and Smokescreen are hard passes, what with being basically Siege Smokescreen and Megatron with slightly different parts.

Optimal Megatron: So good thing Hasbro's getting some reuse on those toy skeletons

iacon45: Between the new deluxe and reissue Ghostbuster figures, new GI Joe, not to mention Earthrise, Hasbro wants to obliterate my wallet.

iacon45: Gameplay, if you could call it that, was definitely garbage but the shrill beeping that would pass as music and SFX made my ears bleed

iacon45: I mainly like it for the novelty of it and the great artwork around the screen.
