Some TRU stores NOT Closing After AllChecking on TRU news, it looks like TRU corporate are changing their minds on some of the stores they had originally listed on their closure list. Looks like Aurora, CO, El Paso, TX, Memphis, TN, among a few others, are going to be staying open after all.

So they decided not to close some stores, and instead close some other stores? Hopefully they at least tell the employees ahead of time, unlike Wal-Mart

Reports are that TRU is preparing for complete liquidation after failing to find a buyer.

Seems like little loss if you don't shop there regularly...but this is going to be BAD for the toy industry and also for us toy buyers.

This sucks. I'm still not over Kay*Bee OR Child World! Now they're saying the stores will just close as early as next week. What about all the inventory?
It's 15% of the US toy market and both Hasbro and Mattel stocks have taken a hit already.

The good news is that Hasbro has already started making plans for a Post-TRU world. I suspect that the rumors of Hasbro buying IDW may be related to this, in their efforts to shift away from being JUST about toys into being an entertainment studio.

From what I read, its not that the stores could close as early as next week but that just t hat the decision to close could he made next week. I think their next bankruptcy hearing is Monday and the final decision could be made then. As far as I know, nothing official has been announced as of yet.
But I echo what was said about still missing KB and that goes double for Hastings (a smaller entertainment chain. this was where I got my local collectibles fix). In fact so far, this seems to be an exact play by play of what happened to Hastings. Filed Bankruptcy, couldn't find buyer to keep stores open, liquidate, close.
But while I'm used to not having a local TRU near me to shop at regularly, I'd still miss not being able to go to one while in the area. Ill be near one next week and I'm planning to stop by and see if they have that studio TC. I'm wondering if Studio TC is showing up early and breaking street date is due to being uncertain if they will be around come April.
