I heard something about this coming on two discs, which is basically unprecedented in the age of games coming on Blu Ray. And this only covers up until leaving Midgar? God damn, they must be adding a lot of content. The design document of the original game implied Midgar was to be much larger than it was in the finished original game. I don't remember the whole gist of it (and I don't want to revisit it now because I'd rather experience it fresh in the new version of the game), but I do remember you were supposed to visit several more sectors, including part of upper midgar above the plate and raid at least one more reactor. My assumption (hope) is they're basing this off of the original design bible and filling in what the initial PS1 game cut for time/cost/etc, which would make me quite thrilled. But yeah, if I get what's effectively several games worth of actual content expanding on possibly my favorite game world of all time and not just "filler" out of this, I will be immensely impressed.

Another trailer here, showing some stuff with Cornello, the Turks, and Shinra....

Yep. Need new pants.
Everyone and everything is recognizable, they're keeping the *weirdness* of the original -- FROG, the Walmarket Gym shenanigans, Skeevyass Corneo!, while mixing things up a touch (ie you actually fight Reno in the Slums Church now, as opposed to just some mooks while he steps on the flowers, President Shinra doesn't show up at the #5 reactor/Air Buster fight (him being a hologram actually makes more sense, why put yourself at risk?), much earlier summon appearances, and expanding that portion of the game. I'm enthusiastically on board.
I AM curious as to who that other SOLDIER is though.

I'm glad to hear it if only because maybe some people bitching about it being an Action RPG will be a little quieter.
That said, I'm kinda looking forward to this a lot given I never did get around to playing VII in its original incarnation, so I can go into this with effectively fresh eyes.

The game is being pushed to April 10th of this year, so they can put a little extra polish on it. Unfortunate, but better to wait a bit longer than to have a bunch of glitches to download patches for.

A month delay isn't a huge thing, as opposed to being like "we're pushing this back to 3rd quarter 2020" or something

On the one hand, DAMN IT NOMURA. On the other, yeah, I'd rather it be up to expectations too, and I've been waiting almost 2 console cycles for it, I can wait another month.

A delay might be a good thing to ensure it doesn't end up being like WWE 2K20.
