The Mandalorian is just what Star Wars needed. No Skywalkers or Palpatine, no fate of the galaxy, just the story of a far better bounty hunter than Boba Fett, his adopted kid, and his people. It uses the larger universe as framework for the setting, and goes from there.

Mandalorian is the best Star Wars thing of the Disney era. And it’s easily in my top 10 of Star Wars things ever. And by “things” I mean movies, books, comics, games, toys, breakfast cereals, lunchboxes, flamethrowers, etc. etc. So yeah, worth a little extra streaming cost at the moment.
Also, I think I’d have liked Episode IX a little better had they not walked-back some of the more divisive bits of Episode XIII. It was that stuff I actually dug about the last one.

Too much course correction from TLJ and too much fan service. This was the SW equivalent of Justice League. Also, lots of things not making sense story-wise. What did Finn want to say to Rey, that he loved her? So what happened with Rose (who was really short-changed here) and why introduce Jannah? What was up with Lando's "let's find out" line to Jannah, some kind of streaming show set up? What was the point of Zorii Bliss? Did JJ jut want another bad-ass female in helmet because Johnson killed off Phasma? So I was right about hand-waving away all of Kylo's evil by blaming Palpatine's corruption. They did their best to give him a Vader redemption death but I don't think anyone cares. The Carrie stuff just did NOT work. 'A' for effort but the existing dialogue was just forced into every scene to the point where it was a distraction. The over-powering of the Final Order and Palpatine was getting silly. Now EVERY destroyer has a planet killer and Palpatine can force lightning an entire fleet? Stop it. Also, this is the first time EVER where I though the Force was used as a MacGuffin.
Meanwhile, the Mandalorian...holy shit. Based on the appearance of Kenner's Imperial troop transport alone I say just give the whole franchise to Favreau and Filoni and let them run with it.

They're now claiming that the lack of Rose was due to the limitations of the Leia CGI.
... Fucking WHAT?

Yeah that's some bullshit. Don't care what the defenders say. JJ just wanted to use his own created characters. Speaking of which... Dave Filoni chimed in about Ahsoka's voice in that movie, with people assuming she's dead.

In case anyone wanted summary of the initial ideas for the movie summed up in CG animation:
I didn't hate Rise of Skywalker, but I must say that Duel of the Fates would probably have been a better movie, if this is any indication.
