I never really had much issue with the chrome on my TMs when I still had them on my shelf. They had a few minor little chips but it never looked too bad from afar. Most glaring was TM Primal's monky face having a chip right on his snout. But in the years since I have had them packed up so the chrome might be a little worse now. But for the reissues, I definitely hope they either do away with the chrome or use a different process to apply it. I never had a TM Rattrap, but is it true that his red chrome was the worst of the TM line? I had heard stories where the chrome would flake off even in a very gentle breeze from the AC. Mine flakes but in the edges so it actually added a neat "glow" effect to it. But I think the absolute worst ever was Beast Machines Ultra Jetstorm. If you blinked hard, it came off. Oh I forgot how bad Jetstorm was. I was actually kicking myself not picking him up when he was out but a friend of mine showed me how bad his was flaking and I'm glad I never got him now. A while later, I had a chance to get a Botcon Cyclonus repaint sealed for a decent price but I was afraid to get him because I thought he might flake the same way and I didn't want to pay that much for a toy with chrome issues. Especially a Botcon exclusive one.

Aww, Transmutate looks about as dorkily adorable in Selects as she did in Beast War- Holy fuck!

You know...I am actually really liking Transmutate as a Fossilizer. I never really thought of Transmutate as a must have character but then Hasbro had to go ahead and give her a Fossilzer alt mode. They gold and blue colors work really well in bot mode but I really love them in the Fossil-Beast mode. I also love how they remolded the head where she can actually have her posed ready for her sonic scream. I am 100% sold on this.

*raises hand*
Am I alone in having NEVER liked Transmutate? Not as a character OR as a toy?
Seriously, that same year, several of my friends used the joke "no hurt" as a punchline. And it didn't help that both the Xenomorph in Alien Resurrection AND Dr. Smith in the Lost in Space movie looked like that tapeworm's fart.

I don't think the Beast Wars episode version was a really great "character" so much as plot device. They were more there to develop Rampage and Silverbolt and provide a moral dilemma than being an actual character.
The convention comics version from the Beast Wars Uprising stuff was much more of a character I enjoyed.

They were more there to develop Rampage and Silverbolt and provide a moral dilemma than being an actual character. The episode had great potential but OM nailed it that Transmutate was used more as a plot device and that part I didn't like. I would have liked to see TM actually survive and have the writers try to expand her character where she tries to learn different things and still interact with both sides until she can learn enough to make a decision on whether she wants to join a side or just stay neutral. I could easily see her maybe surviving at the end of Beast Wars and instead of Waspinator, show TM living among the proto-humans and her trying to teach what she has learned since coming online. In fact, going from this train of thought, I can also see TM maybe trying to figure out on how to try to scan for a beast mode. Instead of a fully developed beast mode, her underdeveloped systems instead give her a more skeletal form. But she then goes on to use her new form to help defend the protohumans against other threats terrestrial and perhaps Cybertronian that was left behind.

For some reason, it seems to be reds that fare worst. This was true for my Rattrap and the reddish parts of Rampage. I had the same issue with some Saint Seiya figures where within a couple years the red trim on Seiya's armor and all of the pink on Shun's armor were coming off. Some others barely had any sign of flaking last I looked.

So messing about with Gen Selects Shattered Glass Prime, I can honestly say I think the Earthrise mold is an improvement over the Siege one.
I just literally did not want to buy it again as another Optimus Prime with an excessive trailer, so I'm kinda glad to get it with a different piece of extra stuff in SG Ratchet, and in a fairly new color scheme compared to Optimus Red and Blue again. It's a solid figure, but I fully admit I would've never gotten one if it had been lugging the trailer around dragging it down the whole time.

Well, if you're wanting one without the trailer, the Netflix Earthrise Prime is without one. And he comes with urine colored Battlemasters.

I actually did end up ordering that exclusive as they just restocked it on Hasbro Pulse for approximately $20 less than everyone else wanted for it. I wasn't gonna pay markup, but that's pretty good.
