This was announced a month or so ago I just haven't been around much to mention it, but starting in 2020 the DC toy license will move from Mattel to Spin Master. Seeing as Mattel has been about 20 years of wasted potential I don't think anyone will mind the change. Right now the biggest Spin Master brands are Hatchimals, Bakugan and Paw Patrol so I'm curious to see how they enter the action figure market. Between this, the Powers Rangers move to Hasbro and the uncertainty in the toy market, it's going to be a very interesting next few years.

Interesting. Well, I guess I can't blame DC. Let's face it... They're unorganized like no one's business. I mean, with Hasbro and Marvel... Their waves are usually in themes, with usually one or two oddballs thrown in the bunch. They release a Venom wave and in it is a bunch of Symbiotes. Venom, Carnage, Scream, Poison... And even Spider-Ham, who comes with an alternate head to turn the BAF, Monster Venom into Pork Grind. And the odd one out is Typhoid Mary, who fits the Defenders line from previous waves.
But DC? There's almost no rhyme or reason to their waves. Here's Spoiler! Hell yeah! And she comes in the same wave as... comic Wonder Woman? Simon Baz? Vixen? The Ray? And the BAF is Super Lex Luth- WHAT THE HELL?! Why not focus on the waves? They did this with the movies, but not so much elsewhere. Why not focus their waves? A Gotham City Sirens wave? A Justice League International wave? A Galactic wave? A Young Justice wave? But this hodge-podge wavemate thing they're doing? No.
And it's a shame too. Because I personally think the DC Multiverse figures are actually better in quality than the Marvel ones.

I haven't seen any DC Multiverse figures in years outside of the WW and Suicide Squad figures at Five Below. The JL Action line seemed to die with TRU and the new Batman line has been sporadic at Target. I think Wal-Mart is intentionally screwing over Mattel for some reason. I will say Mattel did a nice job on the Aquaman line with all the major characters included in all size classes, including Mera, but again they can not get enough supply out to meet demand. The Aquaman with battle shark was a great looking piece but it disappeared off Target shelves way too quickly.

For a good couple of years, the only Multiverse figures I would find at Wal-Mart would be tons of Superman: Doomed, Female Robin, Mutant Leader, Prisoner Lex, Dark Knight Armored Batman, and some Batmans from Suicide Squad and BvS. And I thought Transformers had some bad shelf warmers. It wasn't until their recent pre-Christmas reset that I finally saw some Aquaman blue boxed figures. Bad thing is though even with the blue boxed figures, they STILL have the orange boxed ones at full price.
Ok so with Mattel losing the DC action figure license, and giving 99% of production control of MOTU over to Super 7, I guess the only lines Mattel has for boys are Mega Construx and Hot Wheels/Matchbox.

And be accused of "copying Marvel", the worst possible decision they could make, no matter how successful it could be? You speak insanity! INSANITY, I SAY! Next you'll suggest they should do modern molds of classic costumes! Whenever I'd go to TRU, I'd see a few Multiverse figures, none that piqued my interest. Mostly movie-related stuff that seemed to stick around, even when the store was on clearance. The whole BAF deal has never been a big selling point for me...more a reason to go to eBay and find the figure sans piece (like the more recent Rogue). I've been to Target a few times, but again, nothing that seemed all that interesting.

It was the first DC figure I've seen in almost a year that wasn't Steve Trevor, Carrie Kelly or prisoner Lex Luthor. I found the Burnside Batgirl by sheer chance back in Williamsport before I moved almost a year ago. I understand distribution sucks all around, but I looked on line and it's not like they're making figures I'm dying to get. Where's Black Canary? Where's Martian Manhunter? LoT White Canary? A decent frickin' Nightwing figure? I mean, the Collectible series has them, but they're like almost a inch taller. Hell I didn't even realize that Mattel made a Reaper figure! You know? They've been dropping the ball since bungling the Young Justice line almost eight years ago. They deserve to lose it.

There's a limited number of articulated DC figures I'd get, as I've got plenty at the moment I'm happy with.
I assume that Spoiler figure is the current dark-purple-and-black costume? I'd be surprised if it was her original look.

I'd like to get the newer Multiverse Batman Beyond figure but aside from that, there is not really any other Multiverse figure I just have to get.

Ahead of Toy Fair, the other shoe has dropped. McFarlane Toys will start producing the DC Multiverse figures and vehicles in 2020 with a 3 year deal in place. McFarlane currently has a host of high profile licenses including Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, NFL, Fortnite, Stranger Things and Five Nights at Freddy's.

I won't lie... McFarland Toys really surprises me here. But I'll have to confess, I don't think I've bought any of their toys in years. Have they overcome the fragility issue that a lot of them had?
