New in and out of package images of the new Godzilla King of the Monsters toys. (Some spoilers possible). Shows some better looks at the new monster designs too. Have to say...I'm not really liking the redesign for one as much I had hoped. I won't say which.
Not really loving these. Monster movie toys are usually one wave and done and I don't see any mention of a 6" Godzilla or Mothra. Plus no military hardware, human figures or the like. I much prefer what Lanard did for Kong and Rampage, more play potential at a good price.
On a side note, it seems that the older Bandai America 6" vinyl kaiju that used to frequent TRU have been popping up at Wal-Mart recently.
I know it's a case of thread Necromancy but I bought a couple of the $10 VS. packs. Picked up Godzilla vs King Ghidorah for myself and the Godzilla/Mothra set for my niece (who is a big Godzilla fan).
Haven't open the Ghidorah set but I did get to mess with the Mothra set. Godzilla is a pretty hefty figure. For a $10 set I was expecting something light and flimsy but it's actually quite the opposite. The Godzilla figure has basic hip, arm, and neck joint but a double jointed tail. The Godzilla from the Mothra set has an orange wash effect similar to the look in Destroyah.
Mothra is light weight though which was to be expected. The wing details are stickers and she can move her wings up and down and that's it. It's a shame there are bigger $15 price point Rodan and Ghidorahs but for Mothra, this is her only toy in the KoM line. The big drawback is the create a scene backdrop with...a trading card size background. As big as the box is, they should have made the backdrop the whole inner part of the box. But all in all, not bad for just $10. I'll post thoughts on Ghidorah later.
I didn't bother with any of them. I may have gotten a set if they made all four monsters in 6" scale, but only 2 won't cut it. They should have made multi-packs in that smaller scale with both the Toho kaiju and the new Titans like Behemoth, Methuselah, Scylla, etc. Missed opportunity.
Now I'm concerned if GvK will get toys at all, and if so will it be Jakks, Lanard or someone altogether different. Something with a variety of monsters that are actually in scale with each other would be nice.

Optimal Megatron: Now we just need a Generations Knockout to go with it.

Optimal Megatron: Oooh, a boxset with the Voyager-ish Prime Breakdown and the Jet Vehicon we never got. Can't wait to snag those.

iacon45: Just got Airwave today but haven't opened him. Agreed on Hammerbyte, he's the best of Cyberverse IMO.

Optimal Megatron: So Airwave is fun, and certainly more effective with parts than Ironworks. Not enough to make me sad I missed the repaint from Selects though. Hammerbyte, meanwhile, is a pretty cool little toy for Cyberverse

iacon45: It just freely spins and keeps wanting to face backwards. I started a return with Amazon.

iacon45: Cyberverse Iaconus is not a great toy. I wasn't expecting Generations but I can't keep the upper torso locked in robot mode.
Sept 15, 2020 21:33:15 GMT -5
Optimal Megatron: Nah, just a dull gray, maybe yellowish sometimes

iacon45: Do the skies look red like in the news posts?
Sept 13, 2020 18:57:46 GMT -5
Optimal Megatron: As is, mostly we're just staying inside because the smoke from everyone else's fires on the west coast is blowing through here. It's gag worthy outside.
Sept 13, 2020 17:33:59 GMT -5
Greatshot: Yeah, 25 miles is close enough with crazy fires. glad to hear y'all are ok
Sept 13, 2020 16:33:51 GMT -5
iacon45: Good to know you two are ok. I saw pictures of some of the fires and it's crazy and scary looking how bad it is in the affected areas.
Sept 13, 2020 8:06:37 GMT -5
Optimal Megatron: Yeah, the fires didn't get close to us. It was about 25 miles away but they put them out
