I am really impressed with how good that Grimlock looks in both modes. I have to second what MD said. The dino mode proportions looks a hell of alot better and I'm glad they didn't have to work in a combiner mode this time around. The reviewer mentioned comparing this to a masterpiece and I think he's right with this one and Hot Rod. In fact, except for Jazz and Blurr, I am really excited for what we have seen with the '86 SS line thus far. Now let's see if HasTak can continue the trend with Grimlock and give us the rest of the Dinobots in the SS 86 line but please don't forget about poor old Snarl this time.

It's less PotP than I expected, but really it's not enough for me to pay Leader prices for when I've got PotP Grimlock already, who's pretty damn similar. Especially when shelf space is a concern.

www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/new-images-of-studio-series-86-slag-leaked/45836/Leader Class Slag/Slug/Whatever I have to admit, I wasn't hugely interested in Leader Grim to begin with due to having the PotP Dinobots who were perfectly serviceable in my opinion. I know a lot of people wanted all the Dinobots in this scale to tower over everyone else, but between my display considerations, cost, and the fact they go max Sunbow which...just isn't as detailed as I'd like, they're kinda easy passes for me.

I ended up being the exact opposite here. At first, I was also content with the PotP Dinobots. But after getting Grimlock on a whim, I was extremely happy with him. He's an easy contender for the best figure of the year, in a pretty good year so far. So I'll bite on the other four. HOWever... That's it. JUST the other four. If they decide to redo the Constructicons or whatever in that size, I'm just giving it all the finger.

The opaque helmet on Daniel is pretty weak.
I have to wonder though, are they going to come up with characters to ride on all the Dinobots? Other than Spike, who's even left? Is this where we finally get a non-creepy Marissa Fairborne figure?

Is this where we finally get a non-creepy Marissa Fairborne figure? To be fair, so was the opaque helmet on the Bumblebee/Spike two pack. Well, Swoop is rumored to be a Voyager, so that's not an issue for him. Snarl may or may not be in the SS86 line. But there's always Carly, weapons and an extra set of eyes to add onto Sludge to recreate the eye popping moment.

If they stick strictly to who's in the movie, Spike is the only other option. Carly and Sparkplug weren't in it, and Marissa is introduced later. If they get a little looser on that, yeah any human character is fair game.
An eye popping accessory would be hilarious.
