TFW is reporting on a wholesaler's listing for a PotP deluxe Repugnus.

I'd hope they would make Repugnus a TR style figure to keep him consistent with Grotusque and Twinferno, but Blade Raider said someone mentioned the POTP Blot mold. At least we have TM Repugnus Jr.

I haven't bought very many TFs for years, but the PotP leaders looked really nifty. I like the idea of Orion Pax and Hot Rod powering up into Primes. That's something we've sort of seen with Hot Rod before, but certainly not Optimus. And they manage to look cool despite the extra gimmick.

For the first time in over a decade I have bought an entire wave of Transformers. Quick review time! Skullgrin/Liege Maximo, Cloudburst/Micronus, Metalhawk/Vector Prime - - Genius way to actually release Pretender shells and make them not obnoxious by making them small affordable collectables. Also gets me buying Prime Masters, who are just glorified accessories, but still toys of the 13 (or 12) Beachcomber, Windcharger, Skrapnel - - Good. These are good little toys. Slash - - THIS is how you properly a) Add a new character to a classic group, b) Add more female characters to a male-dominated landscape, c) Make a fun little dinosaur toy. She's quickly surpassed Prime Arcee as my favorite Femmebot. Jazz - - Yup...that's Jazz alright. Dreadwind - - Something about this guy...I really like his robot mode. I never had him from G1 so it's not toy nostalgia. Must just be general comic nostalgia. Slag, Swoop - - THIS is how I remember the Dinobots! I never realized how I'd been settling for the past Dinobot homages. Sure, Swoop has his animation colors but it's fine. The could, however, use a few more weapons. Starscream - - There are a lot of things that could have been done better here. I feel like the Voyagers are compromised a bit by having to be Combiner torsos. Still, the robot mode is pretty cool and he'll be better teamed-up with the inevitable Skywarp and Thundercracker. Grimlock - - Dino mode has some...proportion issues but DAMN is that robot mode ON POINT. If not for Masterpiece Grimlock, this would be the best Grim since G1. again, could use an Energo Sword and twin laser rifle. Rodimus Prime - - I never really liked Rodimus Prime. But this super mode... this thing has gravitas! Space Winnebego isn't all that great and car mode is okay, but the little Hot Rod is plenty cool. Quite happy with this one, I get a great Rodimus Prime toy and a great (currently former) captain of the Lost Light. Optimus Prime - All I have to say is For me, not a clunker in the bunch. Foil stickers are a menace on some figures and a perfect touch on others. Eagerly anticipating the rest of the Pretender Primes, the Terrorcons, Predacons, Primal, Battletrap, and of course, the rest of the Dinobots!

I find the Cloudburst bio there interesting.
"Cloudburst is a Pretender. He looks like any other bot, but his body is an armored shell others can wear to disguise their true identity. He may be Cloudburst or he may be a decoy concealing another bot. Who knows what secrets he holds?"
Definitely an interesting take on the set, and a way to keep using the old names.

I have a Grimlock sitting in my PoL, but I got impatient waiting to ship my PoL and picked up a Grimlock at Wal-Mart. I LOVE this figure. His robot mode is the best looking G1 representation to date in the Classics line. I do appreciate that his T-Rex mode is also the most G1 style we have gotten as well (not counting MP), but damn he has a bad case of Thunder Thighs in dinosaur mode. Only other drawback to me is I wish he had his Engero-Sword.

The figures look good, but I don't think I'll be buying any in the near future. I have a question, though...
Is the "Prime Armor" these figures come with as kibble-y as they look? The just seem like superfluous blocks that stick the figures awkwardly, but don't really do much more than break the aesthetic. Like, they didn't think people would spend money on these things, needed some kind of gimmick to set them apart, and some black plastic boxes were the best they could come up with.

The Prime armor is a take or leave it thing. They're... They just plug on. You don't like them, you can leave 'em off like I do. They're basically the Combiner Wars hands without the fun of turning into a blaster.
