I have a (Chinese knockoff) that's basically the original 6-button as USB. Pretty decent repro, I planned on seeing if that one worked.
Until just now, when I realized this new official one has added L/R shoulder buttons and thus takes its place as the literally perfect digital pad.

Forgot about that. Yeah, guess it's technically an 8-button Genesis controller. Wonder if there'll be a way to actually use those shoulder buttons on the Genesis mini.

I saw your question about the Turbo Grafix Mini Trium. When it was first announced, I was trying to figure out what the US titles would be for it and the site kept crashing my browser.
On a tangent, I was looking at some of those 1 UP cabinets and while I don't have room for even a small one (or the money), I kind of wish they would produce a "lite" version of some of those where it was a plug in device and x number of controllers (like the old $20 plug n play ones from the toy section) but arcade quality play. I would buy one with the X-Men arcade and the TMNT arcade titles in a heartbeat so I could play them in comfort on my 50" TV without having to crouch and hunker down around a mini cabinet with other players.

SNK and Capcom are releasing arcade stick versions of mini consoles like that, but nothing from Konami yet. I imagine the licensing issues would probably prevent TMNT and X-Men showing up even if they made one though, sadly, as both games were removed from XBL/PSN due to the licensing expiring, iirc.

Despite what I said earlier, I'd almost be tempted to pick up the X-Men one. Might be a little awkward trying to hunker down to play it. I've seen the display version at Wal-Mart. With the TMNT one having four controller spots, I'd hate to see what that would look like with 4 players trying to wedge in around it. Speaking of Wal-Mart, picked up a Sega Mini...technically. (Stuck one on layaway there). It was supposed to be released on the 19th but for some reason, they decided to hold on to it until the next day. Like the SNES Classic, Sega seemed to be prepared and had plenty to go so I don't see this selling out...at least maybe not until around Christmas.

I imagine the 4 control setups on the TMNT cab are more for character selection than actually trying to play all 4 at once. Though there were 2-player cabinets so the game does have character select logic in it, you don't need to have separate controls. I dunno, maybe it's because people romanticize the 4-player cab more, and these things are all about the romance of the object.
