Didn't see a thread for these: Playstation Classic Coming Dec. 3. $99.99 and will have 20 games including FF VII, Tekken 3, Ridge Racer 4, Wild Arms. The one thing that is kind of douchy though is not including an A/C adaptor. Worse yet, they even say an A/C Adaptor is required to play but not included. I don't know what other 15 games it will include, but I might pass on this. N64 Trademark Filed, System coming soon? - Don't know if I'll get this one either. I opted for the PS1 over the N64 so I didn't really play many of the good games that came out for this system. Supposedly, it might be coming this year even though nothing has been officially announced. Hopefully they will continue to learn from their past Classic releases making it more readily available, include 2 controllers, and longer cords at that. No word on any games but I would assume Mario 64 and F-Zero X would be a given. Hopefully this one will come with the required Adaptor.

The PS1 Classic: The PS1 may well be my favorite system ever, but unlike the 8 and 16-bit era stuff, those early 3d poly games have aged BADLY. I'm curious to see what's included, especially given they've opted for the original PS digital only controllers, and not the Dual Shock, and while to the best of my memory nothing REQUIRED the DS, there were certainly games that really benefited to it (the amazing Hind D fight in MGS...or really that whole game, for example). Plus, so many of the system's best games were licensed, so it's a real mystery what's gonna be on here beyond what was announced so far. As for the AC adpator, yeah, that's kinda BS, but on the upside it is just a standardized 5V micro-USB so it's pretty unlikely you (generalized you, not you specifically 'bun ) won't have one laying around. I've read it DOES come with the cable too, which would be good for Apple ecosystem folks as the brick'll work fine but you wouldn't have the cable. But that said yeah, it's nonsense they don't provide one. N64: The aging stuff is the same here, compounded with the fact the N64's controller was terrible even back then (fight me. ), and is just shy of being an actual war crime now. Best part of the OOT/MM/etc ports to their other systems wasn't the graphical improvements, it was not dealing with that 3-handed atrocity anymore. I honestly can't name 20 games for the N64 I want to revisit, and the fact that many of the system's best games are caught up in the Rare licensing issues... the only way I'd buy this thing is to play Blast Corpse or Body Harvest* again *Dear Rockstar, please revisit this franchise after RDR2. KTHX.

I already have FFVII (and VIII) downloaded on my PS3 (though I haven't played in ages, been waiting to get the strategy guides). Can't think of any games on a PS Classic I'd want to get. And it wouldn't shock me if all 20 games were on the PS Store at one time or another. Or are still available. Now something like the NES Classic (or this strikingly similar machine with 600 games that I've been mulling getting, if only to sell on eBay), I can see because some of those games probably won't show up on XBox Live or PS Store. But then, I can't see my self playing most of those games. Some old school Turtles, Super Mario, sure. But Motocross or Dig Dug or QBert...naaaaahh.

the N64 was a HUGE part of my childhood.
But to be honest, I'm not sure how well a Classic version will do.
Most of the big titles for that system that everyone remembers were made by Rare (including Blast Corps), and they belong to Microsoft now. So the Classic probably can't use those.
AND I'm kinda doubtful any of the Star Wars games would be added too...

The quality between the NES classic and the KOs is night and day. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a cheap famiclone and not emulation at all. And yeah, Pal, you're probably right about the Star Wars games too. EA holds the license for SW games now so it's almost certain Nintendo couldn't release the old LucasArts games on there, I have a hard time imagining both Disney and EA signing off on that (at least at a price Nintendo would be willing to agree to since it'd impact the cost of the N64 Classic, they're not going to be charitable about it ), but hey, stranger things have happened.

I wasn't a fan of the "low poly era" even at the time. I enjoyed games like Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time, but at the same time I thought they looked like ass compared to their 2D predecessors. There's a reason people have clamored for an FFVII remake for so long, they want to see the story done justice visually. Sad thing is the PS1 does really, really nice 2D games... but Sony didn't want to publish those in the US. Shame, because if they had, they might've dislodged me from the Nintendo bandwagon. But I digress.
I MIGHT be tempted on the PS1 if it has enough the good RPGs. The RPGs are less dependent on the 3D graphics since they tended to use prerendered backgrounds (ala Final Fantasy) or just went straight up 2D sprites. They're also some of the more expensive games, so a good RPG selection could make up for the price of the thing.

The full list of the 20 games available on the PSC has been published. Except Metal Gear Solid, not really feeling like dropping a $100 for the set.

Yeah, upon seeing the list of games I'm thinking of cancelling my preorder too. No SotN (this is because Konami just shit out a lazy port on PS4), no Suikoden II (fucking Konami), none of Squaresoft's other stuff (Vagrant Story, FFIX, Xenogears, Einhander, Chrono Cross, Parasite Eve, Brave Fencer Musashi, etc), no Dragon Quest VII, no Tomb Raider (I know they're the same company now but ), no Wipeout, no Jet Moto... basically everything that made that system such a classic other than FF7 and MGS is missing. Also the lack of Legend of Dragoon, which is a bloody Sony property and a forgotten diamond in the rough is inexplicable. Wild Arms is a surprising and welcome addition, but not enough to sell me on it. I'm sure the 7 people that remember Intelligent Qube will be excited though. Unless the HD cleanup is MUCH nicer than the PS3's upscalling or PC emulation for those two games, hard pass. If it is... if I can find one at retail I'll consider it.

Something else I'm disappointed about, I was hoping they might include some love for Mega Man and release Legends 1 and 2 on it.

I'm docking a point off my own gamer cred card for failing to include those in my list. There's just SO much great stuff for the PS1 and we get.. Mr Driller, Super Puzzle Fighter II and Intelligent Qube? Really?
