IDW has a four-part crossover ahead (Outhouse article doesn't specify when): Now I want to hear the opening Star Trek creed to be read by Peter Cullen.

The Filmation designs? OK, I'm in.

I want to see, like, Omega Supreme scan the Enterprise and then transform into a Constitution-class starship. Make that happen.

I think Star Trek.com said this was hitting in September. I would probably have passed on this but the fact they are using the animated designs might make this plausable. I'll at least check out the first issue. But stop me if I'm wrong, but based on what Blackarachnia said in that one Beast Wars episode, doesn't the Beast Wars take place in what would be the 23rd century since she said "300 years" assuming after the year 2005 or so? Or I'm I reading too much into this.

TAS would've been in 2268 or 2269, after TOS but still within the 5-year mission. That gives you a whole, what, 36 years for Transformers to fully downsize to Micromaster size and forget much of their own history?

I think it depends on the source. Back when I was interning on Beast Machines, they said it was 300 years since the end of the Great War... But it never specified WHEN the Great War ended. That was kind of a cover, because when Forward and DiTillo started Beast Wars, they didn't know these guys lived millions of years. So yeah... It's an unspecified time period.
But hey. If the Enterprise Crew can meet the 90s X-Men, then I think meeting the Autobots is plausible.

Also, we're seeing G1 Prime and Bumblebee (and clearly they're including Windblade, despite her recent creation), and I think the movie (and the series afterwards) is set, like...ten years ago or something? Chances are we're looking at time travel and probably reality crossing. Just like with the X-Men. Both crews. I think twice apiece (I'm guessing, because I only ever read "Second Contact", wherein Storm mentions a couple times they encountered Kirk's crew, and then there's a novel that involves the mutants and Picard's crew again...I'll shut up now).

Or it could just be a fun meet-up of two beloved franchises. I love that this looks like the Star Trek Animated Series. It's the only Trek show I ever really liked. I own it on DVD even. I will give them all the Rodimus Stars if they work the "Kirk is a Jerk" shirt into it somehow

More I think about it, if this is successful, I'd like to see a Beast Machines/TNG crossover. I'd love to see Data explore technorganic possibilities with Primal and Co while BM Megatron's machine only ideals are challenged by the organic/technological unified Borg.
