Hulu has ordered 2 new seasons of Animaniacs. Spielberg is returning to exec produce, and Hulu's deal also includes full streaming of the original show as well as Tiny Toons and Pinky & the Brain.

DuckTales has shown us that a revival can work. But Animaniacs is, pardon the pun, a very different animal. It was both funny AND smart. Sure, they had a few low points, bits that missed the mark, but I'm still skeptical. Being on a streaming service, though, means they won't be going with the trend of 11 minutes of half story, half farts because the writers can't seem to feel even that much of quality content, let alone 22+.

Maurice LaMarche posted something about this on his twitter, so they may be trying to reunite the original cast. Hopefully they'll get some quality writers as well. I feel pretty good about it with Spielberg on board.

I am a bit worried though. It won't air until 2020... And it'll have been 22 years since the last episode aired... 26 since it debuted in 1994.
Christ, we're getting old.

Has it been said if they are going to write this aimed toward kids again or possibly aim at the older fans or a combination of both like in the past with the kids focus along with some jokes for older fans snuck in?

They didn't say, but I would assume they'll try to do it for all ages like last time. Why screw with a winning formula?

I have yet to sign up for it or Netflix. But if Animaniacs isnt due until 2020, then I have some time to figure it out and get signed up.

Snuck in? There was no sneaking, my friend. They did an entire "Apocalypse Now" homage episode. I think of Animaniacs as an adult cartoon with "kid stuff" thrown in so they could justify making it back 26 years ago when Mach was much younger, apparently.

Hope they can get someone cool to do the music since Richard Stone is no longer with us.
