Seems like the Soundwave reissue is starting to pop up on the Brickseek radar and according to it, the price is $49.67 which for Soundwave is actually not as bad as I thought he'd be. I figured at a minimum, he'd be $60.

If he's the same price as Prime-cab, then I'm guessing someone really screwed up the pricing on Prime.

I don't know how much die cast metal was on the original Soundwave, but I remember Prime having a fair amount of it. That might be a factor in it.

Whenever I see the theory about die-cast driving up the price of reissues, I wonder how Mattel still sells Hot Wheels for $1.29. I think it's just a matter of what they think adult collectors are willing to pay.

Honestly, it's as good of a theory as I ever heard. You're probably right on.

I haven't bought any Hot Wheels in a long time, but I figured the newer ones today are mostly plastic and the only metal were pins and screws. The newer ones I've picked up don't seem to have as much heft as a HW from the 80s.
