www.robotkingdom.com/e2052cv00.htmlThis interesting little listing popped up over at Robot Kingdom a few days ago. It lists not only a possible G1 Hot Rod reissue but a "Wal-Mart Exclusive" reissue. I know Wal-Mart carried one reissue before with the 25th anniversary release of G1 Optimus Prime, but this one is definitely out of left field. So my thought is...a previously unannounced TRU exclusive that is now going to Walmart because the former is going out of business...or TRU found a bunch of cases of old 2002 Commemorative Rodimus Majors in the oldest and dustiest part of one of their warehouses and they sold them all to Wal-Mart. I personally, wouldn't mind another reissue of G1 Hot Rod if the price is right. I was never fond of G1 Rodimus Prime, but I really liked G1 Hot Rod. It would be nice to have a new one to open, especially if this is a new "complete" release with his regular guns AND a targetmaster. I do have a 2002 Rodimus Major reissue, but considering it's 16 years old now, I'm afraid to open it and it fall apart on me.

I always felt the same, G1 Rodmius is a piece of shit, but G1 Hot Rod, esp the TM version, is a cool little toy. He feels like a diaclone car, just a futuristic one, and those were always among the best G1 figs.

I had the die cast feet version and I loved the heft it had. Probably helped contribute to the diaclone feel.

I lost my original as a kid (along with many other TFs) when we moved after my parents divorced. I want to say he was the plastic footed one, but I really don't remember. I did pick up the Takara numbered reissue when it came out though, and he held up as a pretty cool toy.

I had the plastic footed one too, but it was the Targetmaster version. (I still have Firebolt too!) I never bothered getting the first one, because I had Rodimus, and the dumb kid in me thought "why would I want his old version?"

That suddenly reminded me of my grandparents refusing to buy any of the Targetmaster repacks because "I already had that one" and I could never convince them it was different enough.

I actually had the normal Scourge, Blurr and Kup, and when they were released a year later with Fracas, Haywire and Recoil, I was kinda pissed off. I felt ripped off. Sadly of all the Targetmasters that came out that year, the only ones I managed to get were Hot Rod and Misfire. (In fact, the only Headmaster I ever got was Snapdragon.)

Yea, I didn't have many of the Targetmasters either. Just Crosshairs (who still badly needs a Generations release) and Sureshot. When I think of it, only Headmasters I had where Chromedome, Apeface, and Skullcruncher.

Interestingly enough though? With Titans Return, I have every one of the classic Headmasters, except Chromedome and Brainstorm, and that's only because I always had the Fun Publication one of Domey and I still have the Thrilling 30 Brainy.
