While at Walgreens, decided to pick up one of the two newest Cyber Battalion figures (no, not Sideswipe ) the Decepticon scientist Shockwave! I know this line is more simplified so Im not expecting MP or standard Generations articulation or quality but the pics have made him look promising. Lets take a look. Shockwave comes packed in a full box with pics of the actual toy in both modes and an art representation in the corner. Instructions are printed on the back of the box. Admittedly, I think I prefer windowed boxes. In this age of factory mispackages and "switch out figures and scam return them",Id like to know 100% what Im getting. Up next robot mode.

Upon opening, Shockwave is plastic tied to a cardboard tray in robot mode so I'll start here. Initial thoughts, he is not a bad looking robot. He has the right shade of purple and his hand and arm canon are in a more metallic purple color. One thing I do like is his Decepticon logo is a TAMPO and not a decal. Articulation wise...he has a fair bit of articulation for a figure from a simplified line: - Head is on a swivel.
- Shoulders are hinged and 2nd hinge inside shoulder piece allows outward arm movement.
- Elbows are on a hinge but no swivel. Some limited hinge wrist movement due to transformation.
- No waist articulation but legs can move forward and back and out to the side.
- Hinged feet due to transformation.
- Biggest thing to note: NO KNEE ARTICULATION but he does have knee swivel due to transformation.
Weighing the pros and cons on the articulation, Im not all that disappointed. Knees would be a plus, but he's supposed to be a cold logical Decepticon. So he doesnt need knees since I dont see him the kind of character to flash overly dramatic poses. He just needs to stand on my shelf and look intimidating.
Quality wise, my Shockwave's joints are nice and tight, no QC issues. I will say that you can tell the plastic is different from regular releases but it still feels pretty sturdy. He does have some hollow areas, the back of the legs and sides of the arm are most noticeable but looking straight at him from the front, not noticeable.
Up next vehicle mode.

Shockwave trades in his space ray gun mode for some kind of space ship looking thing. To transform him: fold feet in and bring legs together, flap covers upper legs; swivel arms up and fold in hand and cannon, flip head down and fold chest down; flip out wings on back; and there is jet mode. Overall, its not bad considering what they had to work with. One thing I kind of dig is flipping Shockwaves head in rotates out the space ship "bridge area" thats looks a bit like a deformed version of his head. I could see this mold being reworked as a Cyber Batallion Scourge. But not much else to say about it. Here are some pics: Up next final thoughts.

And adding to the fun factor, fold out the vehicle mode wings from his back, and Shockwave has a Buzz Lightyear style jetpack.

I feel like Hasbro missed a huge opportunity not giving him a gun mode given we have a new Predaking coming out soon. Other than that, he's a cool little figure.

Thanks for the pics! Something about this Shockwave is putting off a very G1 Marvel vibe...so I think I'll pick him up if I find him.
