David Ogden Stiers, famous for playing Major Charles Emerson Winchester III on M*A*S*H, as well as the voice of Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast, has died at the age of 77 due to bladder cancer. www.nytimes.com/2018/03/04/obituaries/david-ogden-stiers-mash-dies.htmlFun fact, he was also cast as J'onn J'onzz in the failed 1997 live-action pilot for Justice League of America.

RIP. What's sad is I'm only now starting to watch M*A*S*H* and realizing how good a show it really is and his character was great playing off of Hawkeye. But I was looking through his credits earlier today and it never occured to me that he was also Timcin from Star Trek the Next Generation and Jumba from Lilo and Stitch.

He also played everyone's favorite criminal snob... It was a while before I really got to see M*A*S*H* was more than a show my Dad compulsively watches. Before I started paying any attention when he had it on, I though Stiers played Burns, and also played his replacement, Winchester. ...I told you I didn't pay much attention...stop laughing. But much like Potter replacing Colonel Blake, Winchester was an improvement over Frank Burns. We got a lot more humanity and a willingness to return fire on Hawkeye and Honeycutt.
