Feige and Holland have both commented on the record....MCU Spidey is done (for now). Holland signed for 2 more films, the next one is being scripted. Sounds like they'll continue the story threads from FFH without the MCU connections. So poor Happy wont be getting it on with May any time soon. Rumor has it they'll be doing an adaptation of Kraven's Last Hunt.

So.... lemme get this straight.
They're going to do a sequel to a MCU movie, whose principal plot points involved the aftermath of Thanos, Tony Stark dying, and Spidey getting his identity outed by a villain whose main motivation was spite against Tony Stark's memory for appropriating his technology and then firing him...
without the MCU connections.
So people will just...not talk about the Blip, or Tony Stark, or how everyone was thinking Peter might be the next Iron Man, or, or, or....
Right.

Hey, they went two movies without mentioning Uncle Ben. Anything's possible.

Right now, that movie is a ways away from being made. 2023 at the soonest.
I would not be surprised if after considering their movies successes (whether they are or are not is debatable), Sony washed their hands of the MCU and just reboots their Spider-Verse all over again, releasing Tom Holland from their contract.
I mean, it's not like Andrew Garfield wasn't signed on for three more Spider-movies before they let HIM go due to internal dealings.

To be completely honest, I'm not sure if Spidey leaving the MCU is a bad thing. I know Spidey has had guests from Avengers, etc. in the comics but for most of the time I read the comics, he was never a full blown Avenger until recently.
But that being said, I don't want Sony to reboot Spidey either. They set up something good with Tom Holland and I don't want that wasted. I didnt like Garfield as Spidey and Macguire, while not a bad actor, just looked a little too old for the role. Tom Holland has the youthful energy and attitude a 15-16 year old super hero would have. MCU did a good job setting up Spidey and while not the traditional story we have heard multiple times, I think this new take was refreshing. And yes, I think making Tony Stark the sort of pseudo Uncle Ben character was a great choice. I'd like to see where Sony can go with this. There is plenty of Spider-Man mythos to explore away from the MCU including him and Venom meeting (I'd love to see them set up a Maximum Carnage movie), Sinister Six, or even the Clone Saga. (You dang right I said it. I want a movie verse Scarlet Spider. In fact, change it up where the clones are not identical. Garfield as Kaine and Macguire as Ben Reilly. )
But I think Spidey would be fine without the MCU IF Sony learned anything from Marvel Studios. But hey, they F' it up, at least there is the Spider-Verse movie universe.

I mean, it's not like Andrew Garfield wasn't signed on for three more Spider-movies before they let HIM go due to internal dealings. Difference being, everyone hated the Garfield films but everyone loves Holland. One of the reasons Sony made a deal with Marvel in the first place was to get that fan good will. Cutting Holland and rebooting without following up on FFH would piss away all that good will again. I think Amy Pascal has learned some things from working with Feige. We'll probably see Morbius, Venom 2: Carnage and then another Holland Spider-Man no later than 2022.

Not much news, but a few rumors....
Hailee Steinfeld being discussed for Kate Bishop.
Rumor: Sony offered Disney a new 70/30 split for Spidey. Nothing official from either side, could be more fanboy wishful thinking.
The Russo Bros have been hinting that they may have a reason to return to the MCU or, actually, four reasons. >wink<

Those are even more good reasons to sign up. I was hoping that Avengers EMH might be added along the way along with some of the 60s Marvel series.
