The big question is: Will it be a creative and visionary experience like Spiderverse was? Or will it be a generic style like 90% of their DTV movies as of late? Part of me wants to say it'll end up being the superhero equivalent of The Emoji Movie, which some have characterized as being a lazy attempt to copy The LEGO Movie's success. *BUT*, I think of how good The LEGO Batman Movie was, and I think...maaaayyybe it'll be better. However, WB/DC is quite adept at playing catch-up to Marvel when it comes to the movies, so...

DC stuff.....
Release dates:
Birds of Prey - 2/7/20 Wonder Woman '84 - 6/5/20 DC Super Pets (animated) - 5/21/21 The Batman (Affleck is out) - 6/25/21 The Suicide Squad (written by, possibly directed by, James Gunn) - 8/6/21
The entire DC/CW line has been renewed for another season (yes, Arrow too). We'll find out if Batwoman has been greenlit at May upfronts.
The first 13 episodes of YJ: Outsiders are now all available for streaming. The next 13 will be released in June.
Reign of the Supermen has also been released on the streaming service. Doom Patrol starts on 2/14.

DC stuff..... DC Super Pets (animated) - 5/21/21 Can I pre-order tickets yet? So...despite how much I'm against the multitude of streaming services that everything is being spread out amongst, the Mother-in-law wanted a subscription to the DC service for her birthday (she digs shitty DC movies and TV shows). So we've managed to share the password for that as a consequence. This has afforded me the opportunity to watch Outsiders and yeah...that show hasn't missed a step. I had forgotten how deep into the DC lore, classic and current, the show could reach. A quick cameo by a couple characters from the more recent Doom Patrol comics just thrilled me to death

I watched them all as they were released, going to binge through them again on my day off to see what I missed. Certainly not a show for a DC novice.

Yeah, the images are flipped, but I'm not paying $8 for half-a-season). Also taking notes since I'll do recaps of the eps for my channel, one a week. Yeah, it's as good as it ever was. And if anyone can make the worst, least original, and most unnecessary brat in comics even mildly palatable, it's Weisman and crew. Though ep 11 is the ONLY appearance, so much the better.

As the Marvel-Netflix partnership slowly comes to a close, the Marvel-Hulu partnership ramps up. Marvel TV has announced FOUR upcoming ANIMATED series for Hulu...
Howard the Duck (Kevin Smith involved) M.O.D.O.K. (Patton Oswalt involved) Hit Monkey Tigra and Dazzler
I'm assuming we're looking at a bunch of Adult Swim type comedies here, the kind that Netflix has been successful with (like Bojack Horseman). Of note is Tigra and Dazzler, the first pairing of an X-Men character with an Avengers character post-Fox merger. Didn't see that coming.

MODOK??? The giant head with tiny legs & arms from a different dimension, right? Is he capable of carrying a whole show alone??

Batman and the Ninja Turtles...animatedI don't know how they done it, but they done it, and it'll apparently be out this spring. Based on the first comic crossover from a few years back (I guess the prospect of mutating Arkham villains was too enticing to pass up).

MODOK??? The giant head with tiny legs & arms from a different dimension, right? Is he capable of carrying a whole show alone?? Here's the official descriptions and a bit I missed the first time....The Offenders. If that isn't an FU to Netflix, I don't know what is. M.O.D.O.K. centers around an egomaniacal supervillain with a really big head and a really little body, who struggles to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family. Writers Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt will also executive produce. • Hit-Monkey tells the tale of a wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin, as he cuts a wide swath through the Tokyo underworld in this darkly cinematic and brutally funny revenge saga. Writers Josh Gordon and Will Speck will executive produce. • Tigra & Dazzler Show is a story about two woke superheroes and best friends, Tigra and Dazzler, as they fight for recognition among powered people who make up the eight million stories in Los Angeles. Writers Erica Rivinoja and Chelsea Handler serve as executive producers. • Howard the Duck is trapped in a world he never made, but America’s favorite fighting fowl hopes to return home with the help of his unstoppable gal pal Beverly before the evil Dr. Bong can turn him the crispiest dish on the menu. Writers Kevin Smith and Dave Willis will also executive produce. • The Offenders follows MODOK, Dazzler, Tigra, Hit Monkey and Howard the Duck as they are all forced to team up in order to save the world and certain parts of the universe.
