Character designs for the new show are out... I expect them to be tweaked a bit in the final product, but...yeah. Feels very 90's EXTREME to me. Now, just going by the look, I'm saying Splinter's new origin is that Uncle Iroh from Avatar hopped to The Tick's animated world to pet Speak, the world's largest rat, then hopped to the Turtle-verse where he got hit by mutagen. Also, I don't know if anyone here is familiar with the fan comic "Mutant Ninja Turtles Gaiden", but long story short, it's why I find the choice of giving Raphael tonfa just a bit...curious.

Honestly, Im not digging the new designs. They almost remind me of Battletoads more than Turtles. I'm fine with April but Splinter looks pretty down right mean and sinister looking in that pic. Seeing Raph's sais replaced with nightsticks, I'm wondering if they did that for similiar reason Mikey lost his chucks for a grappling hook in the 80s series. I'll still give it a chance but I wont lie, I am going to miss the 2012 series.

Well... It's not like they EVER used Sais properly in that show. Hell, in ANY western media. Sais aren't meant to be stabbing weapons. They're bludgeoning tools. (That's why they got that heavy blunt end on the handle. Catch a sword in one, and smash them in the head with the end.)

Yeah, can’t say I’m liking the new character designs. And I don’t know- I’ve had my tmnt fix for several years now. Don’t especially feel like investing in a new show & starting it all over again.

Yeah. Yeah... I'm with you on that. I like the black April O'Neil design, taking cues from the original B&W Mirage comics. But... I just don't care here. I kinda thought the last incarnation was nearly perfect.

As interesting as the last season was, I would've liked it if they wrapped up certain plot threads before the end. Y'know, what REALLY happened to April's Mom, curing Mutagen Man and other characters (heck, why not Rocksteady and Bebop, since they were turning over new leafs?).
At the very least, I wouldn't mind the same team (animation, writing, etc.) tackling Usagi Yojimbo series. I know nothing about the character, but that three-parter was SWEET.

I kinda thought the last incarnation was nearly perfect. I agree with Mako about not feeling like investing time on a new show. Especially with how Nick airs episodes, it's liable to take 1-2 years just to get through a first season. The 2012 series had a perfect feel to it, had a great cast, good writing, a good blend of comedy/action/shock moments, and plenty of nods for the life long turtles fans. If I decide to pass on this new series entirely, I don't think I'd be too broken up, because even if I don't see another TMNT from this moment on, the 2012 series would be a good series to end my TMNT viewing on. Just to clarify, my TV viewing time isn't what it used to be, so that is more the reason why I might not watch this much, if at all. But by no means do I hope this fails. This seems like a good series for brand new and young TMNT fans to start of with. And also, that Splinter design, the more I thought of it, he reminds of me of those possums from the Tiny Toons Summer Vacation Special.

Oh, so THAT'S why they could never cut through the backs of those Hand uniforms in Frank Miller comics. Those designs look like TMNT by way of Samurai Jack.

Splinter reminds me of Rufus from Kim Possible, and now none of you can unsee that either.
