I guess we haven't made a thread here yet, huh? I know we all have heard about the rather toxic controversy surrounding the film... I'm just going to ignore that. I think we all know what's going on there. (Or at least have our own opinions about it.)
Meanwhile. The movie... I liked it. (Big shock, huh?)
Was it Black Panther or Winter Soldier good? No. Was it better Spider-Man Homecoming or Doctor Strange? Yes. It's got it's flaws and it's not a perfect movie, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I enjoyed the hell out of it. It was fun. The cat was awesome.

Saw it today. Same boat, not perfect, not my favorite, I very much enjoyed it.
Not gonna lie, the epitaph to Stan Lee got me harder than I expected it to.
This incarnation of Captain Marvel is mostly based on the version that came after I stopped following comics so I was mostly along for the external stuff, and that was paid off.
I appreciated the little subtle nods to a lot of what's come before (technically what *will* happen, since prequel), like the Kree tech being the same as it is in GotG - even the smaller combat ships seem almost like "frigate" versions of the "battleship" Dark Aster.
On that note, when the movie opened on Hala, I went "oh damn, are they actually gonna intro the Supreme Intelligence?" 30 seconds later I was grinning like an idiot. I genuinely smiled when I realized right as it appeared that that's the Tessaract, and she's like Scarlet Witch, powered by an infinity stone in the MCU. Nice retcon that really fits well and explains how Fury wound up with it in the original Avengers (the name twist was a nice touch too).
My only real complaint is that Korath, Ronan and Minerva were pretty underused. Would have liked more screen time with them especially how amped I was for the first two to come back again. Given that Korath still doesn't have his cybernetics and they've set up a 20 year gap of her fighting the Kree, makes me think that's the sequel route they're going for.
Lastly, wow. Weird spin on the Skrulls. Not that the Kree have ever been the "good guys", but a mostly protagnoistic version of the Skrulls was a surprising take. I kept waiting for the heel turn and then.. oh wait, Talos is not a lying Kree? He really is trying to save his family? Seems like that kind of puts a lot of the Secret Invasion theory stuff on it's head, though of course he does say there's lots of other Kree out there, so maybe not.

Being cryptic to avoid spoilers as much as possible....I thought the gender flip was a good idea since that character was never all that popular anyway. Sorta like Gwen Stacy, just known for the dramatic exit rather than what came before. I'm not gonna lie, though, I'm kinda pissed about the eye being played for laughs rather than have the reveal be something more meaningful. It was kinda stupid.
I would add Coulson to GS underused list.
My final observation is again how DC characters came first in the comics, but their Marvel counterparts are so much more popular due to films (Deathstroke/Deadpool, Darksied/Thanos, etc.). I make this observation because this new cobbled-together origin for Carol is very similar to Hal Jordan, and we know what happened with the GL film.

I would add Coulson to GS underused list. I left him off for a reason and then forgot to go back and add that point to my post. I mentioned awhile back that I've suspected that one of the things to be undone post Endgame will be his death, between his popularity and AoS coming to an end soon. Spoilers below: Four, count'em four, Skrulls came to Earth on that beach scene. One is obviously Talos, one is killed in Fury's car crash, one is the "science guy" (he's named, but I'm drawing a blank on what it was). The fourth? After the fight on the train it escapes into a crowded station and never is seen again. Skrull Coulson is a good way of undoing that death, and if they did opt to eventually go the Secret Invasion route, would be a good backdoor plot for it.
