I forgot that in those really early episodes, Frankie wasn't as much as a regular as she becomes. She pretty much is a main stay in the series from here on out. And they'll pretty much go through all the "Doc Brown" references by the end of Season 1.
There's a funny joke on the TF Wiki site, where they have Sideswipe (who was guest starring on an episode of Rescue Bots in Season Four) saying "Finally, I'm on the REAL Transformers show!" It's funny, but at the same time, it's true. It's the longest running Transformers show and with the inclusion of the upcoming Rescue Bots Academy, bringing the entire shebang to 156 episodes. (And that's not counting if RBA is renewed for a second season.) There's 207 episodes of the entire G1 Franchise, including the Japanese stuff. It's highly likely that this one silly cartoon show could surpass the entire episode count of the original franchise.

Ep 5: “The Alien Invasion of Griffin Rock” - Anchorman Huxley Prescott creates a panic & puts all of Griffin Rock in danger (including the Rescue Bots’ cover), when he suspects an alien invasion.
Favorite moment: All the bots’ reactions, when Cody shows them a documentary on history. “That makes me hurt inside.” - Heatwave
Also, I love the scene where Chief Charlie Burns explains to the Bots that if lives are on the line, they are to act & not worry about their cover being blown. He said that if their identities as alien robots from outer space were revealed, that they would deal with it. I love that bit. Take that, Pa Kent!! Superman’s dad (Kevin Costner) in the Man of Steel movie had the exact opposite advice, culminating in a young Clark Kent leaving his dad to die in a tornado, when he could’ve easily saved him. What a load of bs that was.
Thoughts: Doc has a last name now! Doc Greene! And Doc from Back to the Future was Doc Brown. I’m counting it as another reference.
I’m noticing small bits of continuity at work here. At the start of the ep, Huxley interrupted an encore presentation of the parade from last ep. So that’s cool. Laughed at all their little references to aliens, blobs & predators. That was cute. And how Heatwave had to remind them that they were aliens too.
The theme song is growing on me. I especially like the guitar that kicks up during the chorus.
That’s all for this one. Most of my thoughts were included in my favorite moment about Chief Burns.
See you next ep!

It's highly likely that this one silly cartoon show could surpass the entire episode count of the original franchise. Hahaha oh man, that’s good! I do love that the shows crossover, and it’s cool to see how the art style changes the way the characters look. It kind of makes sense that this is soon to be the longest running TF show & easily the longest running of all modern TF shows. I was wondering why My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has been running for so long without so much as getting a seasonal rebranding the way TFs always does with “Battle for the Sparks”, “ The Unicron Battles”, “Beast Hunters”, or “Combiner Force.” And if they’re not having subtitles slapped onto new seasons of the same show, they’re just constantly rebooting the show every 3 or 4 years. Anyway, the thinking that I heard in the matter was that MLP:FIM & RB have been able to endure precisely because they don’t rope themselves into a single narrative like fighting Decepticons. Instead, they’re able to continually shift the story as needed and make it feel like a natural evolution of the plot & characters. With each season finale of MLP, I felt that they could’ve ended the show satisfactorily. With the season 5 finale, I honestly thought it was the perfect end & there was nowhere the show could go after that, but they kept it going in a way that makes sense for the characters. Just based on what I’ve seen & heard about RB, it sounds like this is the case here too. And from a toy company perspective, the simpler designs mirror the ease with which the ponies can be retooled. It is funny though, that the 2nd longest running show in the franchise is also the one with the strongest focus on humans & makes them more integral to the show than any other TF show to date. Oh, and if we’re gonna include all the Japanese stuff, when we say how long G1 is, then we have to count all of TFP & NuRID with RB, which should easily push it over the top.

Oh I agree with that. But I just wanted to stick with Rescue Bots for the moment. I mean, if you count both Rescue Bots shows, TF: Prime, and NuRiD, it's 296 episodes. (And it might be more, as there's rumors that Cyberverse is a continuation of NuRiD, the way that Cybertron was of Energon. Different studios but same universe.) However, if you wanna be real anal... If you include the Beast Era stuff (BW/M, II and Neo) G1 goes up to 355. Maybe 357 if you count the Power of the Primes as part of G1. (In traditional 22 minute episode length.) Still though. There's some assholes who'll say that EVERYTHING is G1 over there. But they're assholes. But just think though... Right now, Heatwave is as important of a character to the franchise as Bumblebee, Rodimus and Starscream. In fact, someday there's probably going to be a Masterpiece Heatwave toy that's going to... ...You know what? I'll let you find that out.

Does it have anything to do with that Heatwave toy that turns into a hydra? Kinda clever like a fire HYDRAnt or maybe like the word “hydro.” I went out & got my kid his very own, very first Transformer. And it was the Flip Racer version of RB Blurr. They literally didn’t have any of the original 4 Bots on the shelf in their original forms. So Blurr won for having a cool paint scheme.

Believe it or not, and this may be a spoiler... That two headed dragon toy never happens in the show.
However, by the end of the series, Heatwave is a Quadruple-Changer.

Ep 6: “Walk on the Wild Side” - Boulder mistakes the zoo for an animal shelter & tries to bring a cross-eyed Lion home as his new pet. Favorite moment: I loved that one little moment, when they’re at the zoo, and the giraffe looks down on Boulder & Blades. Typically the Bots are always the tallest things around & everyone’s always running underfoot, so it was funny to see them feeling small for a change. Thoughts: Not much to say this time. Pretty straightforward episode. I thought it was funny that the Bots all saw a lion as a cat that came in their size. And then after hearing earlier that cats in trees don’t count as emergencies, the Bots are then unconcerned about the lion roaming around town & finally resting in a tree. And recycling lemurs! Doesn’t get any better than that. Ep 7: “Cody on Patrol” - Cody overhauls his dad’s old go-kart, so he can get in on the rescue action. But it’s not all action & excitement. Favorite moment: The junkyard battle against the shredder bot. That was cool. Thoughts: We get our first bit of foreshadowing here with the canister of nanites having been planted in Doc Greene’s lab by.... (by Doctor Morocco ). This is a good ep for Boulder. I like his line to Cody at the end, when he says, “There’s taking things slow, and then there’s slacking off. These trees aren’t going to plant themselves.” On that note, it was good to see that Cody was being reprimanded for his reckless behavior. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but I have this general sense that kids’ cartoons rarely ever show the kid-friendly character being in the wrong or being punished for their actions. Getting the sense that as a show that’s trying to instill some moral lessons into their 22 minutes, RB is doing a good job. Plus the punishment was reasonable, no one really freaked out on Cody, and they made sure he had Boulder there to help & keep watch on him too. Heatwave is easily my favorite of the Rescue Bots & he had some great lines in this ep too. Like the line at the end, where Chief Burns is racing on the go-kart & Heatwave is just like, “state of the art Rescue vehicles sitting here, idling. That’s (the go-kart) what they choose to drive.” I feel like there was a lot going on in this ep, but I’m gonna keep it short. See you next ep!

Ep 8: “Four Bots and a Baby” - In order to prove he’s responsible & mature, Cody agrees to watch over Doc Greene’s robo-baby... and then enlists the Rescue Bots to help him.
Favorite moment: When an emergency call comes in, pulling the Bots away from babysitting duty & Heatwave tells Kade how glad he is to see him. Kade’s just like, “uh... why?”
Thoughts: Frankie’s a schemer! Lol she’s just messing with Cody & before he knows what’s going on, she’s gotten him stuck with babysitting a robot. And she just laughs slyly! But at the end of the day, she’s scheming on behalf of her friends, so she’s cool. The bots’ interactions with the baby were all cute, from Chase’s deadpan reading of “rock a bye baby” to Heatwave’s grudging fondness for the robo-baby (“Uncle Heatwave’s got you.”). And I think this might be the first time Chase has displayed emotion, when the baby fell & he tried to catch it but missed. I don’t know what it is, but 8 episodes in & Blades’ voice still kind of grates on me. Maybe it’s one of those things that will grow on me, but right now Blades’ is the odd bot out.
Overall a cute episode.
Ep 9: “Christmas in July” - Just for fun, the mayor fires up a weather controlling machine to create a “Christmas in July” event. The machine goes out of control & threatens to cover the entire island in snow.
Favorite moment: This is a good one for Chase! Loved when the mayor was lying & taking credit for coming up with the snow day idea. As he was talking to the crowd over Chase’s PA, Chase cut him off and said, “He may be the mayor, but I won’t let him lie on my PA system.”
And then at the end when Chase was making snow angels & laughing. Omg his laugh!! His laugh was hilarious! Seeing him have a little fun was great!
Thoughts: Doc Greene’s lab has a basement straight out of Indiana Jones, full of crates worth of banned technology! That’s awesome. They point out that the weather machine looks in perfect condition like it were brand new. Makes me wonder if Morocco has been sneaking into the basement & planting more stuff. I do like how they’re building up to his reveal slowly & by hinting this looming mystery. It’s cool.
Laughed hard when Dani flew Blades upside down! He didn’t even know he could do that!
The snowball fight with the Bots was a cute bit too. Man, I feel like there’s more I’m forgetting, but I really liked this one. I’m recognizing a lot of the citizens of Griffin Rock in the background. There was even a scene where they showed Mrs Neederlander’s cat from behind & I was like, “It’s Mr Petty Paws!” Never before in a TF show have I noticed or cared who all the background characters were. I’ll just say it; Rescue Bots has the best cast of humans in any TF show.
Okay!
See you next ep!

Just saw a Top 10 list of the best TF shows on watchmojo. Rescue Bots ranked dead last behind dreck like Energon! And then to hear them sing the praises of Energon’s production quality - I was about to start a whole thread about it, raging. Even at this early juncture into RB, there has been more care & devotion to writing real characters instead of just moving them from one generic battle to the next, spouting generic “witty banter.” So annoying. It just felt like pandering to what they thought the fans would want to hear.
But then I thought- you know, let them have their list. Everyone has a list. They don’t speak with any authority & even invite dissension at the end, when they ask, “agree with our list? Post your own in the comments.” And in the spirit of the RB toon, I figured I should take the high road, not let a little list bother me, & keep it positive.
On that note!
I was looking up Heatwave on the TF wiki just to see what all toys he’s had released. And while I was looking, I saw that they had someone in an official, giant Heatwave costume walking around the TF event at San Diego Comic Con & at Universal Studios. It’s like you were saying, Mach, about the RB guys being just as important & visible as Prime, Bumblebee & some others. It’s cool.
