If there's a thread, I couldn't find it. So here we go.
*deep breath*
I know the usual jokes is that i like everything and I get that. But it doesn't mean I can't like something and still judge it's flaws. But with the new Spider-Verse movie?
Y'all, I absolutely loved it. It's easily the best Spider-Man movie ever made. I suspect it may be the best comic book movie ever made. (Or at least in the top five, up there with Winter Soldier, Black Panther and The Incredibles.) If you like Spider-Man at all... Fuck, if you like comic books at all... See this movie. It was never boring, never slow, always fun and just... The usual adjectives that goes with describing Spider-Man.
And even if you think I'm exaggerating... The post-credit scene alone is the greatest post-credit scene of all time. It' been a couple of hours and I'm still giggling like an idiot over it.

I can corroborate the enjoyment factor of the film in question. It's about as good a comic book movie as the recent Spider-Man game is a good Spider-Man game. And not just because both had Stan Lee cameos that were great and sad at the same time.
It owns it's unique style, doesn't force itself on you with pretentiousness, and is probably better off as an animated film, since some stuff might either not look right or, despite the best CGI, take you out of the moment in terms of a live-action feature (the glitches, for one thing). I wish characters I was more invested in than Spidey or Miles or Gwen, were written this well.
The worst I can say is that there might be a gag or too that runs only a second too long (but when some jokes run minutes too long, that's hardly a problem), and their take on the Kingpin is a bit of a deviation from the reserved, debonair, regal demeanor I mostly know, but that doesn't really change how he's used in the film. I mean, that and their Green Goblin seemed to go full kaiju, but he doesn't have too much screen time, so no biggie.
Highly recommended.

Now that it’s on netflix, I had a chance to watch it & it is indeed a great movie. Great humor, great action, superb animation, everything clicked & it never felt bloated despite the large cast of superheroes. And I’ll 2nd that post credit scene. Had me laughing til my gut hurt! I’m not a big Spidey fan. I’ve almost never bothered with the comics, having read only the clone saga (a friend back in high school lent them to me, thinking it was the greatest story ever & that it would hook me. It didn’t). Really my knowledge of Spider-Man just comes from the movies & some stuff I’ve seen online over the years. But this movie was so good, that I was wondering how come I’ve never been a big Spidey fan. If Spidey is this much fun all the time, then it’s right up my alley. And yeah, fun even though they had a lot of good depth to the characters. I loved that moment when the original Peter was almost reluctant to go home. It was a great spin on the whole noble sacrifice thing, where he had his chance to die a hero & save everyone in 5 dimensions, but Miles convince him to return to his own dimension to patch things up with MJ. No sacrifice needed. They figured out how to save everyone & it was awesome, but even moreso- it was like going home, living & trying to save his relationship with MJ was scarier & harder for Peter than fighting off a whole army of villains. And I loved seeing him grow up some & taking that step. Great movie. Will definitely be adding it to my collection.
