The wife and I have had serious conversations about this. It's the reason we haven't tried having kids yet.
Next Tuesday will tell us if we need to start looking into foreign options.

As far as I’m concerned, Trump and his administration incite acts of violence & domestic terrorism. The things that are being done at Trump’s behest are barbaric & have tarnished this country’s standing in the world- perhaps beyond repair.
I can only hope that the so-called “blue wave” is more like a blue tsunami. Or a blue biblical flooding. Literally every time I think I’ve seen the worst this administration can do, he finds something more cruel to punish the people with. We’re living through the realization of the Southern Strategy after 40+ years of Republican machinations. And their vision of what America should be is small, short-sighted, & hates everyone; even their own poor supporters.
It sickens me, that this is what our country has become in two short years & I honestly hope that by the time my kids are ready to begin school, that Trump will already be a memory.

Well it wasn’t the blue wave I had hoped for, but at least now there’s one branch of government willing to keep Trump’s administration in check.

Well, it wasn't the crushing tsunami we hoped for, but it was significant. We almost flipped Texas, Florida and Georgia... The latter two are still in contention and possibly heading toward a recount. Beto lost... But only BARELY. Under a 100,000 votes. (And I still say there's recount options there!) And in Texas. And that's as Red of a state as they come. A LOT of senators and representatives in many red states got flipped. Assholes Dean Heller, Scott Walker, Bruce Rauner, Kris Kobach, Putin's rimjobber Dana Rohrabacher, Pete Sessions, Dave Brat, Claudia Tenney and Kim Davis all got defeated and defeated soundly. (That last one lost to the very gay man she refused to sell a marriage license to!) We were never gong to take the Senate. That was a 1:8 longshot, but we DID put a hurt on them. And Orin Hatch is gone, replaced by Romney... who despite being pro-rich people and stuff, he's an old school Republican, from before this whole disgusting alr-right wave of horror, who's actually a human being and has spoken out about the child camps. We didn't win the war, but what we won was the means to actually put up a real fight now. The big scare now though? We've been seeing how Trump acts when he was winning. Now we're going to see how he acts when he's losing. We've already had CNN banned from the Press Room, a obviously doctored video released to "prove it", Sessions fired, Mueller investigations in jeopardy from Session's replacement, with protests going on right now, and another shooting in California... And it's not even been 48 hours since the election. Buckle down kids. It's gonna get rough. But hey, I guess the "CARAVAN!!!" is no longer a threat, huh?

Cenk on The Young Turks addressed this pretty well. While there weren't as many seats flipped as was hoped, wide gaps were closed, and solid Republican seats became close races. Beto O'Rourke almost beat Ted Cruz. Richard Ojeda (who is a badass, and is now running for president) almost won in fucking West Virginia. The other important lesson is that actual progressive Democrats fared way better than corporate "Republican lite" Democrats. The Democratic party needs to give up on that bullshit and start providing people with an actual alternative. That's how they win.

Yeah, my knee-jerk reaction with Ojeda.was to dismiss him after I learned that he voted for Trump in 2016 (and now regrets it). But seems I may have been mistaken about him. I don’t know.

Can't say I agree with every one of Ojeda's policy positions, mostly because I don't know what most of them are. He does clearly care about getting money out of politics, and about improving things for working people though. And he gets people excited. While he lost his race by 12 points, it was in a district that was +49 for Trump in 2016. He made up 37 points, the biggest swing of this entire election cycle.

That should terrify whoever runs against him in the future.
