Just putting up a thread to discuss the line as we get more stuff here. I've got most of Wave 1 at this point, lacking only the Leader class that'll probably be slow rollouts. The Prime Masters are decent enough, with most of them being good Targetmaster guns, and figuring out they can plug into the Prime Armor feet as heel spurs for combiners was a nice discovery. They're not the absolute best thing ever, but I find them decent for their price point. In Legends, Slash is far and away the leader for best so far, with Windcharger coming up close behind her for his clever engineering. Kinda looking forward to Tailgate from that mold. Beachcomber is... well, the best modern Beachcomber we'll ever get, though I find his transformation is fun for futzing with, but not especially elaborate. Dreadwind is taking up the tail end of the deluxes being a retool. He'll probably be cooler once Blackwing comes out and we can access all his gimmicks, but he's passable. Mine has a loose peg on the combiner fist that makes it hard to stay in 5mm ports. Probably need to nail polish or such it to make the friction better. Slag and Swoop both are pretty cool modern updates, though both have occasional trouble with their legs staying together for arm modes. Jazz (possibly a MAGA variant? I dunno, I don't have a microscope on hand to read it) is a really nice figure and I'm glad to have one rather than having to track down the RTS Jazz on eBay. Grimlock's pretty good, though I can see some people disliking his dino tail. However, given he's clearly designed as an 80s throwback for a tail dragging Tyrannosaur, it's not so bad for me. His robot mode is exactly what you'd expect though I may look at Shapeways for a good sword or dig FoC's out of storage eventually, while his torso mode is really inventive and stable on this end. I really like how the extra fists fit into his lower torso to bulk it out. Starscream is a mixed bag. His jet mode is probably the worst hit. It pegs together awkwardly in places (the tail section has a notable seam that doesn't fit snugly because of panels from the robot mode), and his entire torso is on the belly, obviously. However, I like his robot mode despite the bigger proportions some might not like. Not as good of foot/Prime Armor integration as Grimlock, but his torso mode is really solid too, with a shout out to Moviescream without being blatant about it that I appreciate. Looking forward to snagging Rodimus and Optimus when I see them, but so far, PotP is just as good as TR was for me in some ways, and better in others (but we all know I was an absolute combiner whore with CW. )

I've picked up most of what I want from wave 1 (save for Micronus). If nothing else, this line ranks pretty high for me thus far because it's the line that has FINALLY given us some Classics style G1 Dinobots (at least for ones not named Grimlock). I know we got the movie Dinobots and they did try to "G1-ize" them but it wasn't the same. PRIME MASTERS: I can't really speak much on the Prime Masters since I have yet to actually see any in store and they are not really high on the totem pole of my TF priorities to order online. I do like the concept but I think the idea of the entire line using humanoid pretender shells is a bit boring. I know they are modeled after different characters but deep down it's all the same. I liked TM packs because the extra vehicle were mostly different for some added variety. The pretender concept can't really be changed up in functionality but the shells could have more variety like maybe some beast shells (especially for Onyx Primal) and a fembot style shell for Solus Prime. Speaking of Solus, I hope her weapon mode is a hammer instead of just another blaster. I don't see myself picking up many of these but I do at least want to get Micronus to represent his namesake on my 13 Prime shelf along with Cybertron Vector Prime and TR Alpha Trion. LEGENDS: This class is usually the one that gives me the most problems trying to find since no one really locally wanted to carry them. I did get them at HTS as well (and found them later at Wally). I absolutely adore Slash. The Dinobots definitely needed some raptor representation and she is definitely fitting that bill. (Now how about a Classics style Scorn, Hasbro and Takara?). I also love Beachcomber. He does have a simple transformation but it's one of those that are simple yet also fun. I find myself messing with him alot lately when I get bored and need something to transform. I did have Windcharger but I ended up taking him back (overspent at the time. I already have RTS WC so I will probably stick with him but I do plan on getting the mold as Tailgate so I can replace Thrilling 30 Tailgate). I passed on Scrapnel since I already have the Thrilling 30 version. I can't really complain about him getting a reissue since alot of people might have passed on him since it was uncertain we would see a Bombshell or Kickback to go with him. The only big drawback on this Skrapnel is he does not come with the awesome Reflector mini-con from the Thrilling 30 release. Definitely looking forward to wave 2 and our FIRST DUOCON update and reimagining!! DELUXES: Picked up Slag, Swoop, and Dreadwind from HTS. I might seem a little biased here ( ) but Slag and Swoop were an instant nostalgic rush for me. Especially Swoop since my original G1 Swoop's head broke off back in the day in less than 24 hours after getting him. I could honestly take or leave the combiner aspect for the Dinobots, but I'm not complaining. WE FINALLY HAVE OTHER G1 DINOBOTS!! Dreadwind, I kind of have to agree with OM. I'm glad I got him but he's not as high as the Dinobots. I haven't tried attaching the combiner fist yet to see if mine is loose too though. Don't know if I will combine him either but I do plan on getting Blackwing to go with him. I can't really speak for Jazz since I am passing on him. But the mold does look pretty good and I love his vehicle mold. I will not be opposed to getting this mold depending on who he gets repainted into (Personally hoping for G2 Drench or RID 1.0 Daytonus). VOYAGERS: I can't really speak from experience on these molds since my Grimlock is still in my BBTS PoL. What I have seen from Grimlock, he's not perfect, but still looks like he will be fun. Starscream...visually, his colors are really vibrant and pop but from what I have seen, I just cannot bring myself to get him. I have heard some reviews stating some issues including his wings not wanting to lock into place anywhere in robot mode. All the decals in his jet mode is also a drawback, imo. Also, decided to pass on him because I still like the original Classics molds for my seekers. Still the only modern day mold to have been used for all 6 seekers. The coneheads get no love... But while I wont get Starscream, I will probably end up giving the mold a fair chance when Elita-1 comes out. That brings up Inferno. I was not fond of the mold because of his torso mode but I think the mold fits Inferno better than the TFU 2.0 mold. I will reserve judgement on Inferno until I see him in person. LEADERS: For a first wave, I think Hasbro really hit the ball out of the park on these two. I haven't opened them yet but looking at them in package, I really like the looks of these guys. I know they are not perfect either but I will gladly overlook that for now especially with Rodimus Prime. I like the Hot Rod mode (hey I can see his spoiler in robot mode! and while the Rodimus mode is big and beefy...and kibbly, he can always be worse (points at Titanium Rodimus Prime). This brings me to Optimus Prime. Holy Cow, I think THIS is the best looking Optimus Prime in the entire classics line (at least when it comes to robot mode). I've said this in other threads, but this is definitely the Optimus to get for those who want a semi-masterpiece look without paying the Masterpiece price. The only drawback I can say about these guys is when they are in Hot Rod and Orion Pax modes, the armor just sits there like discarded clothing. I would have loved the designers to have put a little extra effort to add a weapons mode when the armor is not in use. (I have seen some fan modes for the unused armor that look good though). I don't know if my thoughts will change when I open them but right now, I'm optimistic. THOUGHTS SO FAR: I think this is the strongest start for a TF line in a very long time. Don't care much about the whole Primemaster gimmick since it's an "imagination gimmick" and doesn't really do anything but that's ok. I know TF is going to always a kids line first and foremost and kids need every chance they can get to use their imagination. From an adult standpoint, at least it's a gimmick that the designers didn't have to work around and possibly hinder some of these molds. That being said, I am really excited to see what's coming on down the line. I know we have 2 more Dinobots coming, Terrorcons, and Optimus Primal too. Now c'mon Hasbro/Takara, how about a POTP Ratchet now....please....?

More Takara POTP Releases
The rest of the wave 1/2 combiner themed POTP figures will be getting individual releases like Jazz. Looks like any hope of Unite Warriors 2.0 sets are nill. I'm not really torn up about this since less temptation to import means some money saved but I was hoping a Unite Warriors 2.0 would give us their take on Liokaiser with POTP Starscream for a torso.

I was not stressing too much not having Shuttle Blast Off but since we're getting him I'm planning on replacing jet Blast Off. Makes me wonder if Hasbro might release the Shuttle mold remold Strafe and the Rook remold Nosecone down the line as well.

Welp... With a new Blast Off, and not needing the old one... Looks like I got my spare Quickslinger mold to make a Leader-1 out of!

Disclaimer: I know 4chan is very unreliable. However, some mostly incomplete MLP FiM episodes from season 8 and some concept art from a new MLP G5 series got leaked on 4chan, so while I'm 99% sure this is bogus, I can't 100% dismiss this either. "POTP Leaks" thread @ TFW2005

Looks like any hope of Unite Warriors 2.0 sets are nill. I am equal parts stunned and (my wallet is) grateful that somehow we got past that without a G2 Devastator, Build King, or Diaclone Homage redeco of those guys

Wouldn't it be a hoot if this was actually Dinoking, with Slapper being a brand new Legends Ankylosaurus mold? They'd have to come up with English names for them and those all match up, except for Thunderscorn, but there's never been another sauropod since G1 to pull a name from.
Seacons... I guess if they remolded the hell out of the Terrorcons....?

I know the Seacons are for real. And while it would be cool if they were DInoking (and they might be), but why would Hasbro use the Japanese names for them and not the Hasbro names?
I get that Striker is too common, so Saberback is a safer bet for registration names. But why Guiledart instead of the already used Triceradon? Why Brimstone, instead of Airraptor or Terranotron? And unless they're making a new mold... Why Slapper and not Dinotron? Pop a new hardhead onto the raptor mode and he's all set for it. The names don't make a lot of sense.
