Browsing through Netflix I noticed that they have Gundam UC on there at the moment. Was thinking about giving it a watch but I figured that I'd query the anime brain-trust here first. So, I'm a big fan of old-school mech/robot/power-suit anime but never really watched more than an episode or two of anything other than Gundam SD just because it seemed kind of dense (volume of content-wise) and I had other stuff going on when it was on TV all the time. This one seems to follow some of the previous shows, but I don't know if any of that past material is a prerequisite for enjoyment. Also, I've been having REAL BAD experiences watching modern Anime. I'm sure I've outlined my problems with it elsewhere here recently so I won't repeat. Basically I want to know if this is a good mech show with satisfying action that keeps the bullshit to manageable levels. I know you guys will help set me straight.

UC? UC is the era that the...
*checks*
OH! UNICORN! I guess I hadn't heard it referred to as Gundam UC before, but I'm looking at the logo, and I can see how Unicorn is kinda small in there.
I liked it. It's my favorite Gundam series. It's got a good story, and unlike a lot of Gundam series... it's not all doom and gloom. (It's not all happy and cheerful either. But it's not grimdarkness hell.) The characters are likable, the animation is really good and the story really flows decently and is easily accessible if you haven't see the other stuff. (I can verify this, because my wife loved it and she knew jackshit about Gundam. She just liked the thought out sci-fi elements.)
There are some mainstays in the series that may make you roll your eyes a bit. Terms like "Spacenoids" and a villain named "Full Frontal". Seriously.
But I really liked it. And if you're curious, check out Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans on Hulu as well. It's also really good... But a lot darker. (Also,. it's a self contained deal.)
