Back in my review of Volcanicus I noted his desperate need for weapons. I poked around eBay for a bit looking for something inexpensive that might work. I found this set - Infinity Warfare JB-00 from a party called Junkion Blacksmith. The price was right, $15.85 with free shipping. I took a look at a couple of reviews on YouTube and it seemed pretty good.
The set consists of a bunch of swords and bits and bobs that connect to form various configurations. The fact hat it had 5 swords was perfect. It also included a pair of gestalt hands. I believe it also comes in blue, but the translucent red of this set is a nice match for the Dinos.
The two swords that can also work as rifles I gave to Slag and Sludge along with their original guns. I augmented their firepower with one of the short, 3-barrel blasters for Slag and one on the claws for Sludge. Those fit nicely into the peg holes on their forearms.
The two saber-type swords I gave to Snarl and Swoop. I used the other 3-barrel blaster with a couple of extra bits to give Swoop a grenade launcher type weapon. For Snarl, I put together a couple of the connector bits to make a rifle that sort of looks like a Tommy gun
I upgraded Slash with Snarl's an Swoop's anemic little swords, now looking more in scale, with another couple of parts for a rifle.
The last sword went to Grimmy. I also put together the rest of the connector parts to make him a double-barreled blaster and gave him the last claw.
The five swords combine into a giant weapon that looks pretty impressive with Vocanicus. The weapons can form several configurations like long spears, but this is the "boss level" mode. He does need to use the third party hands to hold it, though, as the original combiner hands only have peg holes in the thumbs.
I tried different limb configurations and found that Snarl and Swoop just don't hold together well as the arms while trying to hold the weight of the sword, their leg halves jut don't clip together tightly enough.
For firepower, I combined all the leftover parts with the Slag and Sludge guns to make a giant, combined gun similar to something like Ruination's gestalt weapon. While I couldn't configure a grip to fit in his palm, I was able to fit it into a peg hole on top of the hand.
in total, I'm very happy with this set. The plastic is good quality and it's engineered well. I haven't seen any stress marks on any of the parts so far, and they all fit together pretty snugly. The only issue I have is trying to get floppy Volcanicus into poses that the weakness of his limbs can handle.
