As of right now, it's looking pretty good. Disney just upped their bid to $71 billion which tops Comcast's last bid of $65 billion. Comcast can still make another counter offer, but they'd have to find a lot more financing and risk their bond rating dropping since the winning bidder would also be taking on Fox's $89 billion in debt. After the government's recent approval of the AT&T-Time Warner merge, Disney should have little issue getting the OK from the feds.

On the one claw, a combined Marvel Cinematic Universe with DOOM would be fantastic. On the other claw...Disney only gets bigger and more powerful, more entertainment is consolidated into fewer hands, and a probable functional end to the Alien and Predator franchises.

On the OTHER other hand I am highly in favor of anyone slapping the taste out of Comcasts' mouth.

On the OTHER other hand I am highly in favor of anyone slapping the taste out of Comcasts' mouth. and Are my thoughts exactly. The over the top media markets are coming, and this hastens the end of cable/comcast, so as much as I'm not thrilled with the megacorps, I'll take Disney over Comcast anyday.

If we gotta live in a dystopian society, one ruled by Disney is one of the better ones to be in.

The DoJ is cool with the merger as long as Disney sells off some regional Fox sports outlets so as not to have a monopoly on sports coverage.
I guess having a monopoly on the rest of the entertainment industry is A-OK!
