Everything I’ve seen so far looks as though they’re trying to instill this movie with some real heart. It’s sorely needed after 5 Bay outings of nothing but metal & planets crashing into each other. Still feel like BB is gonna come in 3rd behind Mary Poppins & Aquaman. BB has a steep hill to climb to reclaim public interest. Here’s hoping!

My biggest fear about Bumblebee at this point isn't that it's going to suck. It's that it's going to be GOOD, the TF movie we've all always wanted, and between it's release window and the audience exhaustion of the Bayverse obviously setting in with TLK tanking, that it's going to bomb because of that, and it'll die before it has a chance to become a real reboot franchise.

It's good to see BB is getting some good early reviews. What scares me is thinking back to what happened to Star Trek Beyond. It received really good reviews from fans and critics, a high rotten tomatoes rating, and yet despite all that it severely underperformed at the box office and a possible 4th Star Trek Kelvin Timeline movie is very much in doubt (even before Chris Pine talks fell through). I just hope that does not happen to Bumblebee especially if it ends up being a springboard for a possible reboot movie-verse.

The fact that it has to compete with Aquaman, Mary Poppins and the surprisingly well-reviewed Spider-Verse isn't going to do it any favors, either.

It has one big advantage in it's favor though. It's budget is a lot smaller than Aquaman and Mary Poppins', so they have less of a climb. Not to mention, Mary Poppins doesn't have a China release date and Aquaman's already opened there. Bumblebee is set to be the launching movie of the new year there, and apparently the hype is huge right now for it.
So unless some oddball catastrophe happens, I think 'Bee will be fine.

Getting many more positive reviews than Aquaman, almost as many as Spider-verse. Current score on RT, if you put stock in such things, is 94%. "Best Transformers movie ever" getting said a lot. I'm seeing Aquaman tomorrow, Spider-Man maybe Christmas evening, and Bumblebee next weekend.

I plan on seeing 'Bee probably Wednesday or Thursday. Weekend before Xmas the theater is going to be WAY too busy for my cranky, misanthrope ass.

I'm happy to say the rumors are true.
We not only have a good Transformers movie... We have a good movie, period.
Better than Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse? No. But it might be better than Aquaman.

Saw it today. Was VERY happy with it. Everything I wanted, a coherent story, humor with heart instead of preteen grossout nonsense, Decepticons that are fucking characters and not props! (and i LOVED how their robot modes actually had kibble from both their alt modes -- that was such a nice touch), callbacks that felt like the source material was loved and respected, it was just good. The first 10 minutes and last scene before the credits both had me smiling like a damn idiot. I so hope it does well enough to earn a sequel, because THAT will be the movie I've always hoped for.
