So when reading Superman/Gen13 to review a few weeks ago (a lot better than I was expecting, some of the best Supes I've read in a while), a panel in the final issue got me inspired. There's a variant I used in the show, without the added dialogue or background right here, for those interested. But for the picture above, I actually got a comment from someone claiming I was "fear mongering" and "virtue signaling". I suppose it's not unexpected that someone would find a way to be angry about Superman advocating public safety, but this chuckle-head went and charted a flight to the wrong conclusion.

So I decided to read (for review next year...if I can still do the show) James Tynion IV's Detective Comics run. So far, I've read #934-937.
...
I'm counting it as being part of why 2020 sucks.

Finished "Rise of the Batmen". It doesn't really feel any different from the Eternal stories, and that's about the nicest thing I can say.
"Night of the Monster Men", however was...actually decent. I thought about skipping Tec #941-942, but I decided to read them and the appropriate Batman and Nightwing titles in order. It was a little out-there, since it involves giant monsters attacking Gotham, and I wasn't on cloud nine, but it was fine for a cross-title story. Odd that it seemed Spoiler and Orphan were botanists all the sudden, as the story needed it, but it was a much more fun ride. It was a Steve Orlando story, though, so maybe that's why it read so much better.

Aaaaaand done. Finished Tec #981, the "Batm en Eternal" and the entire Tynion run. ... ... ... I joke about being violent and wanting to attack people, and if I ever met "James the Fourth" in person, I'd either pass him by or just be civil and likely hold my tongue because confrontations always end poorly for me. That, and if I did state my criticisms, I get the feeling he wouldn't care and just dismiss everything I say. But after this...I want him to feel the pain he inflicted on me as I was reading 48 issues of what he thinks is on par or better than those who preceded him. He's the one of the worst case scenarios of what nepotism gets you. He is dumb writing trying to pass itself off as smart. I question if he ever experiences self-awareness. I feel lied to by everyone that praised his portrayal of these characters. It makes me not want to bother writing. I know nobody cares, but holy crap-spackle, this was bad. Not just because CassINO can apparently speak Shakespeare perfectly because poetry is magic...when she's not finding something new to cry about and attention is pulled away from a fight before it begins...but even in other technical areas, he's been lackadaisical and simplistic. Out of some impulse, just a little while ago, I decide I wanted to read one of several speculative scripts I'd written, years back. I actually read most of them last year, to see if there's anything I'd change or if I still thought they were good, maybe spark more writing, that sort of thing. But for some reason, I felt like reading one in particular.
So the 9 (comic) page story goes that a wannabe vigilante (who lives in the US) tries to assassinate the President of a foreign country, because some nameless dude gave him some money and convinced him that A. Prez was tied to the mob, who rigged his election, and B. Wannabe was a great guy that just didn't get the brakes more well-known and better-equipped crime-fighters did. Eventually, he and his eight-goon crew (who all know this is B.S. because they technically work for Nameless Dude/Nameless Dude's boss) go to enact their kill, when they're stopped by a legit vigilante, and get trounced. Wannabe, who doesn't stand a chance, is especially ticked off, because he's SO convinced he's in the right, and the rightly-elected official is actually bad.
I wrote that in 2014.
...yeah, felt kind of eerie, not gonna lie. But it's not TOTALLY identical to anything that's happened in the previous 7-8 months, because after thinking on some questions he can't answer, Wannabe begins thinking that maybe he was duped.

After seven years, one of my videos finally broke 1K views. Nearly 1.3K, with over 103 hours watched. Did not expect that of my Silver Surfer/Superman review, in about two week's time (also netted me more than a dozen new subscribers).
It'd have been nice if more people had sat through to the end, but hey, small victories, right?

Hehe I need to see that. Rowdy Piper has always been an awesome guy. It was nicely cataloged in my Liked videos playlist. "And I'm not dropping my pants in front of other men." "Then how'd you get this job?" It opened on the first page of the thread this time, and I gotta say... FUCKING CHRIST RODDY, forget the metal hip, that's a real blow!
